spunkywho 09-14-2004 04:04 AM

if you don't mind the dry spells.

what kind of a drumset should I get my son? kid size or adult? (he takes lessons on an adult set and he has 2 kids sized ones - one of which needs to be replaced)?

Jim Bon Jovi 09-14-2004 04:52 AM

why does he have 2 drum sets?

like guitars are fair game cos they really do vary from design to design but drums r pretty much one and the same until you get to higher end gear.

get him a full sized kit anyways.

electric

there's never any dry spells. just periods of reduced activity :P

V are you not worried that your son will turn into a drummer?

spunkywho 09-14-2004 06:16 AM

lol worried, me?? Since I found out that your true heart lies in drumming - no.

I am actually pretty amazed how much he knows and the rythm he can keep - he too is very proud when he can explain how to achieve certain sounds and stuff. But he keeps talking about learing the guitar - so, all is well after all.

The reason he has 2 drumsets is because he has two homes, one with me and one with his Dad and he needs to practice at both places.

His Dad has started him on piano lessons (just my ex teaching him) and I refuse to get a piano.

Anyways, how much is an electric drumset (used) and why would he want it (or why would I want it - is it quieter???)??

Jim Bon Jovi 09-14-2004 03:19 PM

It's ALOT quiter

it has tonnes of different sounds (literally an unlimited amount once you know what to do)

it's more of a tool and a toy than just a kit.

you can spend hours just playing with stupid wierd noises n stuff.

instant phil collins gated reverb drums 8) mmmmmmmmmmmmm phil

V are you convinced?

allmike 09-14-2004 05:57 PM

sound really great thing

V So is it easy to learn drums?

Jim Bon Jovi 09-14-2004 06:04 PM

I'm prett adept at musical instruments and have great rythmn so it came easy to me but I know some people who just can't get their 4 limbs to work coherently with each other so it depends on the individual.

V is having good rythmn a bonus in certain situation?

spunkywho 09-14-2004 07:19 PM

certainly - hence my love for drummers ?

do you ever get scared of your own nightmares?
