If you look at the Contact page there, you will see the faces and names of three fans... I know they're fans cause some of them are running other fan sites as well.

So I would say that this site is very much UNofficial, despite the "in cooperation with Island Mercury" claim on the front page.

Sambo-Chris 09-23-2002 11:24 AM

It's a fansite run by some pals of mine.

Re:

Nice site, the only thing against it is the fact that it is not completely in English, looked around and gave up as I couldn't understand half of it!

Very proffesional though, maybe if someone knows the webmaster to pass on that advice. As the majority of the BJ Web Fan Base communicates in English.

Sambo-Chris 09-23-2002 03:55 PM

I'll let them know :).

Here's a little tidbit from the Info HQ about this site. I have to say, though, that I didn't mean the question to sound as harsh as it does... Oops. Sorry about that.

Question:
Hey Oompas, I just sent in a Q about the Bon Jovi Tour website at http://www.bonjovitour.info/index2.html to ask whether the site is official or unofficial. I'd just like to add that I was going through the different sections of the site and found that in the Information section, the website owners are thanking "Kai Wagner, Per Gilomen and the others at Mercury Records / Universal Music-Teams", probably for cooperation and other such things (the page is in German so I can't understand everything they say...but I do get the odd word here and there). Also, in the Contact section you can find contact information for the people who are running the site. Is this site really official, does it have the Bon Jovi Headquarters' approval? Or is it another case of the the "Dedicated To Bon Jovi Syndrome" (http://www.dedicated-to-bonjovi.com/) or "Anytime Anywhere Syndrome" (http://www.bonjovinowandforever.com/inglese/menu.htm) in which people are trying to create a semi-official status for their websites (and thus also a lot more traffic) by claiming that their websites are "in cooperation with Universal blahblahblah"?
asked by Jovian from Finland on Monday, September 23

Answer:
NONE OF THESE SITES ARE EVEN REMOTELY OFFICIAL. Call it what you want. Claim to get things from your local record labels but in NO WAY are any of these sites related to the band, their label or their management.

bonjovitour.info

hi ya all

i'm cavi -- one of the webmasters from www.bonjovitour.info .....

thanx to sambo-chris who emailed me about this topic here ;-)

i'm sorry, but due to having a lot of work i'm not a regulare visitor of the drycounty board ..... (shame on me .. lol)

ok, here we go .....

first, sorry for the language problem at the site ....
the major idea was to make it all available in german first and then start to translate things to other languages .... to english in generell .... this is what we are working on right now ...

well, the site is not an official site like bonjovi.com, bonjovi.de or all those official label sites ..... that's why you got that answer from the Oompas!

but while we startet our work on the site we contacted the germany online promotors (Kai and Per) if we can get informations from time to time from them, especially tour informations etc.

due to this (and some other reasons) we made a cooperation with the german bon jovi label .... but this doesn't mean we get paid for what we do or that the site is official ......

i don't know how renate at dedicated-to-bonjovi-com or the italian guys and girls handle it but we asked for the tiny cooperation to have someone to contact, before all those touring rumours start and get a right feedback from them .... that's all ...

well, i hope i have not confused you too much .... (due to my bad english too....lol)

have a great day :)

bye cavi

PS: If you have setlists, reviews of PIX from old and new shows .... feel free to email them to us .... that's the way how our database about jovitours can grow up :)

Hi There!

I'm Webmaster#1 of BONJOVITOUR.info!
As Cavi already told you, we're working to release the English version of the site as soon as possible!
The Community, which has already 100 members, was made in 2 languages and is available in English! So you can register there without any language problems!

But the big feedback in this topic shows us, to change the language from German to English. Don't be angry, you Germans out there, English is more popular and holding a complete website in two languages needs very much webspace if you have for every language a HTML File, or it's not clearly arranged... and that really sucks! So, I think, we'll work to translate the site!

Next point: again, as cavi said, we only get information of Mercury Germany, we don't get paid for our work! And Per, the online Promoter of Mercury, checked the site completely and didn't tell us to take off the "in cooperation with Mercury". So why delete, if nobody complains?

I don't want to say anything to the reaction of the "BON JOVI INFO HQ" because they are very very rude if somebody asks them about fan web sites! As I noticed, and as I got to know, they do not like to cooperate with fans in any way! I think that pretty sucks, because fans really know what they want to see on the internet, and if no one of the official site agrees to the wishes of the fans, the site won't satisfy the users completely. Now, we want to be something between the official site and a fan site! We managed to have contact to BJ-management Germany, we can get official information (I know, BON JOVI INFO HQ says, that nothing which is not presented on bj.com or bswjbj.com is official..) but we also want to have our site the way, the fans and visitors want to have the site! The best example is this topic here... now we know that there is an international interest on the site, so we will sit down behind the PC and try to make BONJOVITOUR.info like you told us in this topic!

So, you see, there is a real concept behind this idea and the community is only a small part of BONJOVITOUR.info, but it is a great way to communicate with other BJ Fans! The other part of the site is the tour section! I hope we'll get much information about missing concerts (we just recieved many infos 'bout events of Jon and other Band members before Bon Jovi!!!). So, stay tuned, register in our community and have a FU***NG JOVI-YEAR!

First of all, thank you Cavi for taking the time to respond to this thread. It's always good to hear from the people behind the websites, such as you yourself. 8)

I understand what you mean...but I'm not sure if I agree with it. :?

It's always great to have a website where various fans from around the world can post their reviews, pics and concert memories of the shows they've been to. If I wasn't gonna put up a website that basically centers around my own personal Jovi experiences (some day, when I'll finally have time to learn to play around with Dreamweaver, LOL), I wouldn't mind sharing my pics or reviews on your site as well. 8) It's a great, professional-looking site, and I really hope you'd at least think about making the entire site bilingual with German and English.

The thing I'd like to ask you, though, is that don't you think you're kinda "over-stepping your boundaries" as a fan with the website? I mean, the Oompas and Backstage have stated repeatedly that fans should not contact the record company, the concert promotors or BJM in order to find out or scoop information about new releases or tour dates -- yet that is exactly what you seem to be doing with the website. Don't you think you're "stepping on the band's toes", so to speak? You're saying that you want to get "right feedback" from the record company and concert promotors before rumours about tour dates start spreading around -- isn't that what the Info Headquarters at www.bonjovi.com is all about? They're there to provide information about the band -- the kind of information that can be shared -- and to kill the rumours that spread so very easily in this day and age of the Internet.

If the band doesn't want some particular pieces of information to be shared at some given point in time, it's most certainly not right for the fans to dig that info up on their own from their local record company branches or concert promotors... And it's most certainly not right for those record company branches and concert promotors to share that info with the fans. So as much as I appreciate your efforts to create a complete Bon Jovi Tour Archive, with complete tour dates, set lists, pics and reviews (for as many shows as you can get them), I cannot support your attempts to create a website that could end up releasing pieces of information against the band's wishes. :(

cavi 09-23-2002 09:34 PM

hi

well Anu in some points you're right but the site is nothing which provides informations before bj.com or bswjbj.com ....

don't you think they get bored of questions like "what songs have been on the setlist at 30. june 2001?" and questions like this?

the site should only give informations for fans, which can be found by themselves and due to this the Oompas would not get bored with those "old" tour questions!

Quote:

sure you're right, but germany always had an own bonjovi site and why not helping them to support the band?

at the labels site at www.musik100.de (page is now down) and now www.islandmercury.de or the new bonjovi.de forum there are aktually more then 950 german speaking bon jovi fans and the german bonjovi sites in the past didn't contain much informations about the band and their tours in the past and so our first idea was to built something to support the german online community of bon jovi and get old tour informations available for new fans since crush..... why shouldn't there exist something?

our site and our idea behind the sites contains the fact, that due to the labels own site not every fan has to try to contact the german label....

when you look at www.islandmercury.de you can check for all email adresses of the peoples working there but i think they have some more stuff to work then answering fan emails ..... we don't have "Oompas here" and englisch is hard to read for older and younger fans .....

maybe we are in that age that we can fixe both languages but we should think of other peoples too and so we at www.bonjovitour.info would work as an interface between this .....

this is nothing against you .... i think you would only make the facs clear for other fans like you and that's really ok!

have a great evening
bye cavi
