Books

I'm an avid reader and I've read many great books. But there are still a few that I haven't and hope I will some day. Like Catch 22 or Wuthering Heights (well, I read that and hated it) or even Lord of the Rings.

Any books you want to read or one that you say you have to read before you die?? In that category I would say To kill a mockingbird and The Stand.

I keep looking at Lord of the Rings, thinking i will read it. Last time i tried to read it i got to page 9 and put it down, never picked it back up since!

I'd like to read The Shining..I didn't like the film, but the books are always better...and I've heard that the book of The Shining is very good.

I'd like to read more of Michael Crichton's books as the ones I have read (Jurassic Park, The Lost World and Sphere) are very good, and have also made great movies.

Stanley Kubrick's The Shining is very bad, the book is better. If you like Crichton, read Congo and The Andromeda Strain, both great books.

I've only read the first 2 (well, I read Two Towers up to the equivelant end of the movie), because I know otherwise the movies will dissapoint me. I'll read the rest of Two Towers and then Return Of The King once I've seen the movie (in a little over 4 weeks time).

I'd recommend waiting until you've seen all 3 movies, and then reading all 3 books.

I have also been meaning to read The Hobbit, but not been too bothered (not enough to go to the library for it, lol)

The Hobbit is brilliant!! I read that 2 years ago in 3 days, I loved it!

I am going to wait till the last Lord of the Rings comes out.. it's just such a big book...

I read To kill a mockingbird and didn't really like it

I don't have any books that I want to absolutely read before I die right now. As they spring to mind I go and read them. So right now, I'm reading "normal" books, waiting for some masterpiece to come along

Tash- Wuthering Heights you either love or hate. I've never met anyone who doesn't have a strong opinion on the book! Have you tried Jane Eyre though? It's more "pacific" and tempered. Most people like it... :D

Tashjbj 11-16-2003 04:42 PM

No, didn't like Jane Eyre either. I don't do too well with books in the Romantic period (that is that period right??)

To kill a mockingbird is amazing, I remember it took me about 6 chapters to get into it, but once I did, I couldn't put it down! A beautiful story and so subtly written. Make you a deal.. I'll try Wuthering Heights again and you try To kill a mockingbird!!
