Waiting / Not waiting to download bounce - An alternate view

Hi

Just a thought running through my head...

Why is it that it is the "good thing" to wait for the cd to be released before listening to it. It seems like people pride themselves for it, but i cant undersatnd why?

I mean surely it is the "music" that is important, not the phisical disc you hold in your hand. I think that the sooner you get to hear the music the better!! I mean why wait, if you can get it?! Because you could be denying yourself an amazing listeing experience, and without looking on too bleak a side of things you could step of the curb last week and...well you get the picture. We aint getting younger.

I mean i pre-ordered the american version just so I could get to listen to it then...then I downloaded the japanese version when it became available, i pre-orded a copy off amazon for my brother and went to WHSmith this morning and got a copy fresh off the shelf for my collection. So I'm not a "download and hide" type i thouroughly support the band(s) however the most important thing to me is the sounds that come from the speakers!

Think about it, are you enjoying the music, or the consumer experience of holding something in your hands...tempted? Yeah go on U.S listen to it, its great, its not cheating....

Then go buy it October 8th..

Just my 10 pence (everything more expensive over here)

Peace

I think the thing is that it sounds much better on CD than the internet - hence my first time I wanted to be just right 8)

Buying a BJ CD is something of a ritual - albums come out every...2 years at best. (8 albums in 19 years isn't prolific). Hence I personally wanted the first hearing to be as it should be - not some interuppted feed over the internet coming through my substandard computer speakers. - With lyrics etc....

I have to say that I am glad I waited.

I'm not saying it's the right thing to do I just wanna do it. I can wait. Plus I don't have the kinda money to go buying every single copy off the internet. I'm gonna buy it on October 8th not cuz I think it' the right thing to do but because it's cheaper.

Oh yeah I don't have a computer so I can't download either!

Cool Cool...

I'm not criticizing just asking questions :)

On the flip side to all of what I said, yea Its pretty special being as they are one of the few last great bands to still be at the top of their game and also contemporary..you know i mean its not like the stones or aerosmith would have flops cause they are legends now, but those are both preeching to an older audience

BJ seems to somehow capture evrey gen you can think of....and with all the wallpaper music that is produced these days, BJ releasing an album is special, so make the most of getting the cd.

p.s. i'm not loaded...i just put aside money for cd's concerts etc all the time, i'm a music student so its kind of important

Re:

At the end of the Day, it does not matter how we listen to the album (Personaly I agree with Mike, the sound is better on a cd than downloaded version for most of us) but as long as we pay for the music and not get a pirate copy it don't really matter does it?

It's all about the sound quality. No matter how good your computer system is, the music will not be as crisp and clear as having an original copy of the CD in a good stereo system. You only get one shot at the first listen and a lot of us want that first listen to be an ultimate experience. Of course, I didn't wait, but I had my reasons! LOL I do kind of regret not waiting too, but, on the other hand, I don't. Do I sound confused? LOL

You don't sound confused, I know what you mean.

I really thought I'd be able to wait until the U.S. album release, but after watching that spectacular web cast where the band played so many of the songs off of Bounce, I couldn't wait. Obviously, I totally plan on still buying the CD but I've downloaded as many songs as I could off of Kazaa.

Someone made the point earlier in this thread that as long as you still buy the CD, it's not really cheating. One is only denying oneself of a great compilation of songs.

The reason why I didn't download the album is because I have a 56k modem. I saw the NYC Gig on Channel 4, and they are the only Bounce songs I've heard. I pre-ordered my album, and it should be here tommorow (hopefully).

That's just the way I am - would rather wait than download it before the release date.I'm not that bothered about waiting till today to get it when I could have had it before today.
