What's Next?
I guess everyone is looking forward to a boxset next right. "A man spends his whole life waitin', prayin' for some big reward; it seems sometimes that payoff leaves ya' feelin' like a dirty whore." How spoiled will we get? Whereas this is like a gimme from the band, I'm more concerned with where they are headed in their future studio sessions.
Someone mentioned This Left... as more experimental...I think that's the idea, experimentation is good. In a way, This Left... could be the rebirth of the band, exploring new instruments or something, hopefully Bon Jovi return to their ass-kicking, story telling, arena rocking, ways that made them the international superstars who've sold 100 million records in 20 years. Personally I liked the idea of Crush, Its My Life, Just Older, One Wild Night, but I think the album was hijacked with fillers. Bounce was decent, Undivided, Everyday, Bounce, even Misunderstood, but was drowned by adult contemporary fillers. Even though this band has bombed it's last two albums, it's not over for them, they still have plenty of years before joining Celine Dion on the Vegas circuit. Bon Jovi need to stick to their guns, and maybe even produce the damn record themselves. To hell with Luke Ebbin and his band of merry poppy men. So, what do you THINK the band will do next? Not what you WANT? Honestly, seeing their actions in the past four years, what will BON JOVI produce in-studio next? |
i think they will continue to make studio albums that rocks, but not the same as slippery of jersey. They will continue to experiment, but they will be better in their new style than they are now. They will return to their roots, but with some changes. i think tlfr is the beggining of something great, but we got to let the band some time to find their direction
|
I'm afraid they may have no time to find their direction. Their last four(!) records bombed.
They may be done as recording artists. Of course, they will probably stay relevant as a touring unit for some time yet. Their brand is just too big. However, they future records may never be relevant again. They may join the ranks of ZZ top. Remember ZZ top? They used to be big and make relevant music. Now they make music exclusively for their small fan base. And they are a good band. I don't want this to happen to Bon Jovi. But it's a possibility. |
dont agree with this. their last four albums were not big big hits, but still good enough to buy them and appreciate them. in my opinion. and i dont think they are over recording albums
|
That's not what I said. I said they may stop recording RELEVANT albums.
You know ZZ top is still recording music too. When was the last time you've heard their post 198* music on the radio? But that may not be the bad thing. Once radio stops playing their new music, maybe they will start creating better music since it will no longer have commercial appeal. |
Was Crush a commercial flop?? cause I was under the impression they did pretty well with that album.. It may not have sold 15 million copies but it got them some attention with It's My Life and I think decent album sales.
I know Bounce didn't sell that great but I think it sold a bit and I have no idea about TLFR I can't imagine BJ will ever reach the level of popularity in album sales as they had in the 80's, 90's unless they manage to produce some big hit singles in the next few years. They had a minor hit with Misunderstood and my gf told me she liked that song before I'd even told her I liked BJ. So they still are getting some attention as far as the charts are concerned. Unless they strike some kind of musical goldmine however, I have a feeling it's all downhill as far as sales are concerned from now on. Still, if they make great albums from now on then it doesn't make much difference to me. If TLFR had sold as well as Slippery, I'd just be worried that it will encourage them to make their next album sound like that... good music + poor sales = good music...... and that's all that matters to me! |
they wont change their style because radio don'T play their song, because i dont think they are such a commercial band. they do what they feel and want to do, and if radio dont plays it, they dont give a damn, coz that is not the point. they just want to express themselve and make what they love to do. in my opinion though, i never ask them lol
