So long Steve Waugh................

http://www-aus.cricket.org/link_to_d...H_SR_02001795/ It is going to a shame to see Steve Waugh leave the game after such a long time in the team. I've grown up watching Tugga going from an all-rounder to captain of the Aussie team, and now the last player from the '80's team is retiring. A lot of links in his career that most of the others would dream of. While it is sad, it is also an oppourtunity for a new player, probably Michael Clarke, to step up and be noticed for the batting and bowling talent that he has. This is going to be a great last summer for Waugh in any case. |
It is a shame to see Steve Waugh leave. Although he is an Australian, and therefore one of the old enemies he is definately one of the people I respect in the world of Cricket. He's provided a great service to Australia over the past 15-20 years, and although he is not quite the talent that Mark Waugh is, he always made up for it with sheer effort, common sense and self belief. He's saved Australia many times from sticky situtations and if there was one player who had to score a century to save my life, then it would be Steve Waugh.
As for Michael Clarke, the up and coming youngster, I have actually played against him in the county cricket league. Each team is allowed to sign one professional, and two seasons ago one of the teams signed Michael Clarke. All I can say is that he is an amazing batsman, and in one of the games against us, he scored 200 not out, from just 50 overs. I'm pleased to say that I bowled quite well that day though, and lucky he didn't take many of those runs off me. He will turn out to be a great player for Australia in the next few years, if he stays on the right track. |
When are you going to play for England, you've said you have played against Michael Clarke, Brett Lee, probably more international players. Should someone give a call to the English selecters?

Steve was an awesome batsman! Its sad to see him go, but at least he is going by his own will, and not being forced into retirement.
I would like to see bevo step up & get a crack at the indians (when we tour ova there), b/c he is in mint condition! |
he is the most arrogant sportsman i have ever seen. good, but his ego was restriction his blood circulation.
