Invincible days

The last few days have been very weird for me now. The types of days when nothing goes right and everything that can go wrong does go wrong. First of all I have a flight to catch and, if on time, then have 40 mins to go through all the checking-in and get to the departure lounge at Standsted (about a 15 minute walk with bags as anyone who has been there will tell you), then the flight is delayed by 55 minutes... midair it is delayed a further 10 mins. Once because of leaving Danish airspace and another because they go to another runway... I sprint from the plane and make it to the coach with seconds to spare. Hurdle 1.

Then the next day I have a meeting with the Bursar at my college and end up getting into a war of words with him, but then I catch him out on the specifics of his "precious" rules. Problem solved.

Then I get a cheque for £600 as a grant from college, which I am shocked by. I find out that I have missed an important meeting with a tutor but that she likes me and there are no real problems. Then today I get book values for £40 for my progress this term...

bear in mind that this is an 8 week term of which I spent about 1 week in Manchester in the middle, I missed the first 4 days because of my extended "trip to Finland"; attending only 4 out of 32 lectures... then I go to Finland for another 2 weeks. As Laura can tell you also I spend about 4 or 5 hours at most (including reading) to do my essays (usually about 3000 words). 12 essays in those 8 weeks. (plus the librarian is unhappy because I have supposedly lost 5 books) - but still somehow I get it. Then I'm told i spell a word wrong... and I correct it!

I have this complacent feeling right now that I am unbeatable. To top it all off it is the last day of term and in 20 minutes I have my last class... then it is Christmas, and I'm back to see my love within days.

There should be a venting forum really but does anyone else ever have day/s like this where they just feel like shouting "Is that the best you've got... *throwing fist to the air*" ?

Great Tom.. but don't count your chickens before they're hatched and remember Murphy's mist important law... It won't take long for the sh*t to hit the fan!!!

Not trying to dampen your good spirits.. Keep up the good work! I'm very happy for you!!

Murphy's Law already happened to me when i said earlier in the day: "I'm actually really impressed with Ryan Air. Not only are they always on time but they are even early"

and then a friend said: "I hope you don't miss any of your trains, buses or coaches"

I have done absolutely no work for this tutorial either and now I just need to bluff my way through it for 90 mins... I'll still be one of 2 out of 8 doing all the talking despite not doing any of the work.

On Friday I had that feeling of shouting "Is that the best you've got... *throwing fist to the air*... I left the company party (in the middle of the forest quite far from city centre) to catch the bus, and missed it by literally two seconds. I decided not to wait for 40 minutes for the next bus, but decided to walk to the centre instead. I had no idea where to go, but fortunately a man walking with skiing sticks (welcome to Finland!) told me where to go.

I had to walk through a very dense forest, climb up about 150 very steep steps, in pitch black at 10pm on a Friday night. Not the sort of place I usually want to be alone at that time, and usually I'm very careful about not doing that. But this time I was so full of this fury and invincible power that I sort of wished that someone would attack me, just to kick their arses. But no one did, and about 40 minutes later I got to the city centre.

Another time I had that is when I arrived at Stansted, and had to rush to the exact same bus Tom did, I made it by a margin of a minute. I was sitting in the bus, feeling very much in control :)

But you know Tom, there's absolutely nothing you can't do!!!

to top it all off i had to meet the president of the college for an end of year discussion. My class finished early so I went for a walk in town and I was about 1/2 a mile away from college when i realised i was 10 mins late already for the meeting... I sprinted back... making my throat and chest worse again and then pushed in front of someone... quick apology and got that out of the way also :)

I'm constantly tempting fate but i seem to be indestructable today. I should go and pick a fight (jokes)...

Now I just have one meeting left and then I can pack and get ready for returning home for 10 days or so.

it wasn't/isn't luck though! It is me triumphing over a lot of stuff I and my body has had to go through over the last few days! Everyone is very impressed anyway at my disappearing act yet again... let alone that i should win a prize when I have just above 50% attendance!

It all comes down to luck. Just when you are riding high, BAM!!! The bottom falls out. Yes, be careful Danielson, ancient Chinese proverbs do not lie. :o
