BON JOVI records acoustic in the hard way possible
12/02/03

Band that inspired MTV to release the unplugged series reject the consecrated prescription and reconstruct successes in studio.

In opposite of brazilians, north-americans don't have the habit of "acoustic guitar concerts", where a friend drives the six string and let the people free to sing together. So, from where came the gold mine called "MTV Unplugged" (in Brazil, Acoustic MTV)? Artist that already have owned a lot of money with this project like R.E.M., Alanis Morissette, Nirvana, Charlie Brown Jr. and Lulu Santos (both brazilians), must be pleased to Bon Jovi: in the MTV American Awards of '89, Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora entered the stage with two guitars and played acoustic versions of "Livin' on a prayer" and "Wanted dead or alive". The Mtv loved the idea and the saga (or curse ?) arrives until nowadays....

Arrangements, melodies and lyrics were modified.......

Curiously, the Bon Jovi that never have recorded a "Mtv unplugged", releases now a guitar based brand new album, but without the Mtv mark and in a different way: This left feels right (Universal) brings old success with new arragements, melodies and until new lyrics.

Everything started in an acoustic concert in Yokohama, Japan, early 2003.....

- 3 days before, we decided to make a different concert - says JBJ - We ran with the prodution and found the result great. So, we would already release a "the best of", we decided to give to the fans something that we have more effort in doing it, and not just the same songs... like everybody know them.

During the Bounce World tour (2002), the band went to a studio in Amsterdan, Holland, were recorded 5 songs. That had no utility.

- We contract Patrick Leonard, he wanted we start in the zero - says JBJ.
He got the reason, many good ideas came after, in studio.

Even son, the album is based in acoustic guitars and in JBJ voice, "This left feels right" has eletric strings, keyboards, bass and drums. Rock songs like "You give love a bad name", "Bad medicine", and "Keep the faith" are carried with the foot in the brake and variations in melodies. The band also recorded recent successes like "Itīs my life" and "Everyday". The Bon Jovi's production in the last years was higher than never: the new album is the 4th in 3 years, after "Crush", "Bounce" and "One wild night: live 1985-2001"

- We want to please the fans, and maybe, bring more people to our music - says Sambora. - We are a contemporary band, we don't live in the nostalgy. The first people the listened us in the '80s are now recording their own albuns !.

......... That's it
