Actor admits assault on girl, 12
 

US actor Scott Bairstow, accused of raping a 12-year-old girl, has pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of second-degree assault, his lawyer has said.

In the modified guilty plea, Bairstow, 33, maintained that he was innocent but conceded that he would probably be convicted if the case went to trial.

Bairstow is due to be sentenced on January 16.

The charge carried a standard sentencing range of three to nine months, Bairstow's lawyer Mark Mestel said.

The actor was originally charged in May with raping the girl, a relative of his wife.

Bairstow has appeared in nine feature films, including The Bone Snatcher, in which he played Dr Zack Straker.

That is really disturbing...12 year old girl?!!!!

Hope he gets locked up for a long time!

only 3 to 9 month? thats not anough for raping anyone no matter what age. Especially not a 12 year old :mad:

Sounds a bit like Obie O'Brien to me. It's interesting to see that people were more defensive of him when basically he was charged with committing the same crime.

No, I am not saying what Obie was accused to have done is right, but there is a difference between raping a 12 year old kid and having consentual sex with a 17 year old. :?
