Well how about the stupid fcuking EU...Scots can't call Kilts Kilts anymore, they have to be called skirts, and blackboars can't be called that anymore, even though they are black. And also apparently the EU said our bananas weren't curved enough...things are getting stupid.

It is true, but I don't understand what the big deal is. I find it a bit weird to tell other people "merry christmas" when I am not sure they indeed celebrate christmas. I wouldn't know what to do with someone telling me "happy hanukkah" :? Just avoid it and say "happy holidays" - easy, non-offensive, and true.

Interesting. At first I thought it was weird but now I agree with you! I thought you caouldn't say Happy Christmas to anyone now I see it's when you're talking to someone you don't know or for TV / radio etc. It makes sense, though.

Still, I think people understands what you mean even if you get their religion ffestivity wrong  It's the good wish that counts, isn't it? :) :?

most people, specially if you dont know them, dont get offended unless its really really obvious that they dont celebrate it

Oh yes, definitely. Most people don't get offended (though I am sure some do, there are always some weird ones). It is a matter of taste not to do it. You know like good manners. :D

stuff that, what do they expect in a country that is overwhelmingly Christian?
