Question for people with cats

Do you let your cat into the kitchen ?and if you do do you let them onto the worksurface?if you do i know you would clean it before cooking, but do you have a problem with them jumping up like that?

My cats can go anywhere they please, so yes, even in the kitchen. Cats are different from dogs, they'll do what they want anyway especially when your not there. If I'm cooking, I'll clean the worksurface down first, but as my cats don't go out and they are very clean (as all cats are!) I don't really think of it as a problem. I make sure there is never really food around in the kitchen, so they don't really go in there a lot, only for their dinner or for their biscuits or water.

I let my cats everywhere but for now they have not jumped onto the worksurface.

Same here. Until now they haven't jumped on the worksurface (at least not that I've seen it) but they are only 3 1/2 month old yet. They can go nearly everywhere but I wouldn't let them on the worksurface. It's not a place for animals.

I don't have a cat right now, but when I did they were allowed in the kitchen, but not on the table or counter tops. Now I can't be 100% sure that they didn't lie all over them when I was out, LOL, but they didn't go on them when I was home.

Its difficult to stop cats jumping on work surfaces, so I have a bleach spray gun, everytime prior to cooking or preparing food I spray everything, only way I can be sure its clean. After 12 years with 2 cats Im used to the routine.

I have had 2 cats (different ones of course) for 35 years. They pretty much go where they damn well please - but I have always kept them off the kitchen countertops and table. A loud shout when they are young usually convinces them to stay down. I've never had a problem with sanitation in all that time so something is working.

With 6 cats, they run the house. LOL They jump anywhere the like, whenever they like. I keep spray cleaner and wipes in the kitchen so I can cleap up before I cook, but they've been known to jump up WHILE I'm cooking something to investigate. I shoo them away, wash up again and dare them to do it again.
