A question for the women...

Are there any others out there who don't want to have kids??
I'm 34yrs old and I've never really felt a great need to have children. Probably came from how I grew up, I don't know.
I have always gotten some flak from other women when I said that I don't want kids, they were like "what's wrong with you?"
I'm not alone, three of my friends don't want to have children either.
I've also lost two boyfriends because I don't want to have
children.

Anyhow, two years ago, my GYN told me that my chances of ever getting pregnant are about the same as winning the lottery. That it would be extremly difficult. I wasn't upset about this at all. Just saw it as another sign that I had made the right choice.

I just want to know if there are any other women here, who feel the same as I do.
But often times, I am made to feel bad by other women, because I don't have kids. And when I say that I don't want them..oh lordy, I don't want to go there. But let's just say that one woman even said that I must be a lesbian or something.

Okay I'm babbling, it's time for me to shut up.

no one has to have kids u know. just cos alot of people do and it's seen as "normal" doesn't mean it is.

tis like a thign i was reading in dear dierdre the other week about a woman who hated her mother but people thought she was bad for sayign it and someone wrote in and quite rightly said. just because people think u should love ur parents doesnt make it so, they need to earn respect and love just like everyone else.

sooooooo just cos people think u should have babies doesnt mean u should. though trying lots and lots is quite fun :D

I don't want kids, never wanted them either. People have thought me strange too, but I don't really like kids either.. so that is another reason.
But I understand what you mean!!

I would love kids when im older cos i dunno.. it would be really sweet to have my babies running around and they look up to you and you teach them things. But there isnt anything wrong if you dont want them. I know alot of older people always say "bloody kids i wish i never had them" Alough they probably only mean it at the time theres nothing wrong with it. I guess some people worry that they wont do a good job or soemthing, And some kids can be hard work. But i couldnt imaagine having no kids late ron in life. I see my nephews and look forward to being able to ahve my very own :)

I don't think it is strange, in fact I give you credit for going against the stereotype. Being a teacher, I have witnessed parents who have had children just because they thought they were "supposed" too, and it only hurts the kids in the long run. Too many people think raising kids is all cute and fun, and don't realize the amount of work and effort it takes. In the end, the children are the ones who suffer from the misconception the parents had. Once you have a child, that is it. You will basically worry about their welfare for the rest of your life! Besides, in these times with both parents having to work, not having kids isn't such a strange option. Not only are they time consuming, they are expensive too!!

I would like to have at least one. :D

As it is now I don't want any kids in the future. maybe my opinion will change eventually but i have talked about it with my mum very often. of course she would like some grandchildren. but she always said its entirely my choice what to do with my life and if i am happier pursuing a career then so be it. :) i am really glad my mum is supporting me that way.
and who knows - maybe one day i do want kids :)

Im 35 and have one daughter. I always wanted a child and do love being a mother, well she not a child anymore !

Ive known lots of people have kids because they thought they should due to family pressure etc, it was clearly wrong afterwards and they have regretted it.

I think its good that you know what you want and what makes you happy, if other people dont understand that then its their problem.

Don't think it's meant as the most important thing in your life, but you have a responsibility to this life form that is entrusted to you. I think it's a big deal and not something to be taken lightly. That is definitely another reason why I really don't want kids, I'm barely responsible for myself, let alone a child, who depends on me for everything!
