January 6.

I was just wondering if there's someplace else where you get your Christmas presents on January 6.

I still have 3 days to wait!!! And there's a Christmas feeling still aroud, which is very, very nice :D

In Spain most children will get their presents from the Three Wise Men :) I think it's a nice tradition and I love bothe the wait and the day, which is always very exciting and fun! :D

So... have you all guys got your presents yet? Or is there anyone else waiting?

Poor you, you have to wait... :( Not long anymore though :D
Germany got its presents already :D But January 6th is a public holiday as well.

Really? I dodn't know it was a public holiday if there were no presents! :o Must be nice!

I'm looking forward to it! I haven't asked for anything in particular so it'll be all a surprise 8) Plus I'll be spending most of the day at my Aunt's with my cousins and their children. It's great to see how excited children are and how happy they feel about this day! :)

Well it's not a public holiday in each part of Germany, but I am lucky to live in one where it is :P

I hope you'll get some nice presents Keeper! And enjoy being with your family :D

i always liked the spanish tradition of having presents by the 3 kings on jan 6. it always seemed really cool to me, because by that time everyone else aroung the world would have gotten over the christmas period but all the spanish children would have something to look forward to!

(and i also like eating the 12 grapes at midnight on new years day..but this is going off the subject)

Keeper 01-03-2004 06:18 PM

I'm glad you like it! :)

What I didn't like as a child was the fact that you had to go back to school only two days after getting your presents :( I kept think things like "Oh, I could have played with this all through the holidays!"

Also in Spain we leave a shoe instead of a stocking! :D

The 12 grapes tradition is fun. I really wouldn't know what to do at 12 without it now! Just saying Happy new year and hugging relatives doesn't seem enough somehow :P The bad thing is, by this time of the year most grapes taste awfully so it's hard to try and swallow them!

This year though they tasted a little better. Could only eat 8 though

maybe we should bring the tradition over here. but most ppl at midnight are kissing under the mistletoe...dont think they is enough room for grapes as well :P :)

    Maybe they think kissing is more fun than eating grapes??

Yes, you're supposed to eat all 12 or you won't have a lucky year. Funny, I don't think I've ever eaten them all and my life hasn't been all that bad :?

maybe its all building up :P only joking..dont really think its true do you? maybe a way of getting the little ones to eat fruit. lol. but its fun and we used to tlk abt it all the time at school.

and kings day, lets see whats it called, el dia de Reyos? is that right?  so what happens? do kids get presents on 25 dec too?
i know you have a little manger made and each night the kings come a little closer to the stable. and if they're naughty they get a little marzipan coal. ooh. this is bringing back some really cool memories.
