HEEELP : Pc is making me insane !

Im working on my pc for school but it's not going to well cause it seems that my computer is flipping a bit !!!! So I need your help !
For the last 3 days I have popups ALLLL THE TIME ! It's driving me crazy !!! My pc was on, I went downstairs to eat ... 30' and when I got back there were 28 popups on my screen !!! Know what I mean now by saying I get insane. When you are trying to work for school it really isnt amusing !!!

So I thought ... simple ... I just turn my internet connection off but every minute the screen for Make internetconnection shows up ... AAAAAAAHHH

Is there anything I can do??? I already looked on the internet (between all the popups hehe) but I only find popups-blockers that I have to pay for and that really isnt my wish ...

Please help?

Vallie

Pull out the cable! :P

Sorry, I don't know what else to do else than using a pop up blocker (don't know one you don't have to pay for)...well, you could try to change the browser. I don't get many pop ups when using mozilla and even netscape doesn't show as many as ie at most sites (except amazon, dc and netstat)

pop swatter is free i think. sounds to me like there is something you have downloaded unintentionally that is causing the problem. the way your internet connection keeps popping up suggests an online dependent piece of software has been downloaded that keeps trying to run itself. i don't know how you'd find it, to be honest. are there any new desktop icons or anything new under your progammes toolbar?

www.ad-aware.com

It's completely free and strongly recommended if you wanna keep spyware and other junk from your computer. So I think it will help with pop-ups too, not sure about that too. The only **** about this programme is that if you also use Kazaa, you have to re-install it every time you did a scan with Ad-aware.

You need a popup manager in addition to ad-aware. If advertising is popping up all by itself you have spyware already installed on your computer. Ad-Aware will identify it and delete it - it is also a free program. Then, you need a popup blocker so that spyware doesn't install on your computer in the future. I use popup manager and have for at least 3 years - it is also free - and I have never had problems with it. Here is the link:

and here is ad-aware (there are paid versions but the basic version is free)

Ow by the way ... I installed both things now. So will things go automatically now or do I need to do something now??

For Ad-Aware: double click on the icon on your desktop to run the programme then select something like scan if I'm not mistaken. The rest is easy to use.

I don't know about the other programme but I will surely install it when I'm back home.
