How stupid can cops be???????

Ok, I had an accident with a truck 2 months ago. It came too much on my side of the road in a curve but I couldn't drive much more at the right. So we crashed. The cops came, said it's my fault because I'm a beginner and because there were some fragments at my side (what only proves that I must have stayed at my side). So there were two friends sitting in the car, too who made testimonies that say that it was teh other driver who came at my side. Well, today I got a notice of payment due which says that it'd be my fault. And in the form where they write what they used to argue that there`s only the report of the cops.
So let's summarize it:
- I got 2 testimonies
- I got a really good lawyer
- He has nothing but those damn cops
- The situeation is logical (who would crash who? the truck the car or the car the truck)
- and last but not least: I'm in the right!!!!!!!!!!

So the lawyer gotta file an objection...it can only take years until this will be finished...I'm so furious :bad-word:

Oh, I'm sorry to hear that! It's always the newbies who have to pay for everything as nobody will give them any credit. Truck drivers are supposed to be very qualified so laying the blame on them seems to be out of the question.

Anyway, keep fighting for your rights, and good luck! :)

I will...and I'll win! call me naive but I'm in the right and there must be a way to prove that!

I don't know - being a bit older I have found that the courts, here in the US anyway, will ALWAYS take a cops word over a driver or witnesses. You have to have a clear cut case of the cop lying before it is even considered that you might be correct. And in my experience, age doesn't even help. :(

Plus, she's a woman. And a young woman. Sorry, but I see no case.

Well, here usually a witness is more important than the cops because the cop hasn't been there and doesn't know what has happened but the witness does. Well...and even the judges know that most cops are stupid. I think I have good chances but before there is all this damn bureaucracy.

My sister got in an accident about a couple months ago because this old lady turned right in front of her without looking. Even though it wasn't her fault, she got cited anyways because the cop told hear that she failed to yield. How dumb is that?

if you want my opinion cops can be very stupid and dangerous! the other month some cops had a call for a wanted person in the area they were and they tried to stop a car in which they were 3-4 boys and just because the boys didn't stop immediately the cops started shooting! the driver, a 22 year old boy, was shot in the head and died. and of course he was no criminal! the cops are prosecuted and i hope they go to prison for life! :x

 That's horrible! If they don't get jail time, this whole court system is even more fukked up then i thought. Just horrible.

But i hope everything gets all worked out correctly and fairly for you, An-U!
