very very bad day for me.
For the last week I have had a very bad headache, that was behind my left eye. On Wednesday night/Thursday morning it was really bad and I was having lots of trouble seeing out of my left eye. I left work early (4am) to go to the ER.
There, I was given a shot of something and told that I was having a migraine. Friday, the pain was better (not gone) but my vision was really screwed up in my left eye. It was like looking through a cloudy glass or something. I called my family doctor and he scheduled me with a neurologist for Wednesday. I had to work late despite that fact that I couldn’t see crap. When I got home, I called my friend and she suggested that I see an eye doctor. So I ran up to my eye clinic and the doctor stayed late to see me. Unfortunately he couldn’t do anything since the meds the ER gave me were still in my system and my pupils were too small. So the Dr told me that he wanted me to come in tomorrow (today) first thing. He was coming in on his off day to see me. Well today was not so good. Not only was my boss p*ssed off about me having to leave but also I got some bad news at the DR’s office. First, when my boss came in, I told him that I had to leave because I HAD to go see the Doctor. I explained why, that I couldn’t see much out of my left eye. He was like you should have scheduled that for after work. I told him that the doctor didn’t ask me when I could come in, he TOLD me that I had to come in. And I added, that at first the DR didn’t want me to come in to work at all, but I talked him into letting me go in. I also said, that “there is a note from the DR’s office on your desk.” What I wanted to say to my boss, “Gee, next time I will plan out ahead when I get sick.” I mean, come on, when someone tells you that they can’t see or is having trouble seeing...and any idiot can tell that they are having trouble seeing, wouldn’t you be just a little more understanding. To tell the truth, I’m sure the HR office wouldn’t be too pleased to find out that I was running the machine in my state. Anyhow, the Doctor performed a lot of tests on my eyes. Afterwards he tells me some bad news. That he thinks that it could be Retrobulbar Optic neuritis,, which could lead to or be MS. And I have a lot of the symptoms. Another thing it could be is a Pseudotumor, but he is doubtful about that. In any case, he sending some notes and the test results with me to take to the neurologist on Wednesday. So as it stands right now, we don’t know for sure what’s causing my extreme blurred vision in my left eye, just some possibilities of what it might be. We do know that there is no damage to the eyeball it’s self and the nerves within the eye. He said, that judging by the tests, there is some nerve damage or swelling somewhere between the back of the eyeball to the brain. So now we wait for neurologist finds out. Oh and I found this on a website while I was searching for info..and this is pretty much how I see with my left eye...http://www.mult-sclerosis.org/optic_neuritis.jpg |
I understand why you'd be pissed. You'd think your boss would value your health enough to want you to see a doctor. How much good will you be if you're too sick to work?
I hope they can get your vision straightened out and it won't be anything too serious. Becky |
I'm sorry to hear about how awful the last few days have been for you. I hope everything turns out ok and not too serious.
Nice boss BTW  ...seriously some people. Is there someone you can file a complaint with? Stephanie |
God that really stinks. The health news is bad enough but to get harrassed by your boss on top of it is too much. You cannot plan ahead for stuff like that - that's why you have SICK time. Or it's why you're supposed to have sick time anyway.
I sincerely hope that your eye returns to something like a normal state and that some better new follows the initial scare. Kathleen |
I really hope everything turns out okay for you! It sounds pretty scary and so does your boss! Some people don't have a heart let alone common sense. Like you can schedule an illness! Let us know how it's going!
