Anyone watch "Joan of Arcadia"?

Just wondering if anyone here watches "Joan of Arcadia"?

If you've never heard of it, it's a new tv show (on CBS in the USA) about a 16 year old girl who talks to God (He appears to her as various people from a little girl to a good looking guy). I didn't watch the first few weeks, expecting it to be too religiony and preachy. But then I tripped over it one week and it drew me in and now I'm hooked. The writing is very well done, the characters well written, the story arc well thought out, and the religion aspect very non-denominational and non-preachy.

Except for the "God aspect", it kind of reminds me of early Buffy episodes, but unlike Buffy, it's actually getting good ratings! If anyone else has seen it, what did you think?

Joan is played by Amber Tamblyn who used to be on General Hospital.

And her brother is played by Jason Ritter, who bears an uncanny resemblence to his late father, John Ritter.

I watch it and love it. Amber is a great little actress, I loved her on GH.

exactly. i love the show, watch it every week, the writing it just superb. however i wasn't fond of the episode that aired friday because it seemed to be for the most part a little more... how can i put this... it just seemed like something from a teen movie, all of a sudden everyone is dating and making out with one another, plus her dad now works for a sheriff or whatever and is no longer the chief of police, so i don't know how the next episodes will play out. but otherwise i definitely am a fan and all the actors are great- Jason Ritter does look just like his father, i'm amazed. especially in his eyes. i think Amber is perfect in her part. just overall a well thought-out show.

I know what you mean. Some fans on another site were thinking that perhaps it was set up that way as a possible series ending if the show hadn't done well in the ratings and CBS had not picked it up for the remainder of the season.

that would make sense, but i still don't like it. i hope things slow back down in the coming episodes.

I watch this show. I think its pretty good, if a little cheesy (overly emotional) some times. I like the way they've handled God. Not preachy, non-denominational. Good show.

By the way, its been picked up for the rest of the year, and will probably get a second season.

EDIT Another great show on CBS is Hack. That's even better than Joan Of Arcadia. Check it out!

I've only watched it a couple of times and those times were by accident. I really liked the episodes that I did catch, but I never remember to watch it! Just on at a bad time for me or something.

You could always tape it, but then there's the problem of trying to find time to actually watch what you tape!

And the problem of remembering to set the VCR too. LOL! I always remember the next day that I forgot to tape what I wanted to watch.
