wanted...

prob think im dumb for posting this but is the song wanted dead or alive.. some how related to the band touring alot?

seems so by lyrics like this:

"It's all the same, only the names will change"

"Sometimes I sleep, sometimes it's not for days nd the people I meet always go their separate ways"

"I've seen a million faces And I've rocked them all"

Captain_jovi 02-02-2004 08:46 AM

Yah, that's what the song is about. When they wrote it, they were reffering to how touring is like being a cowboy..

ie. "On a steel horse I ride"

The steel horse is an analogy for the tour bus.

No it's not. It's referring to Jon's Motorcycle.

Does Jon tour on his motorcycle? I think it means the tour bus too. Or plane these days :)

Supersonic 02-02-2004 12:39 PM

Aloha !

In the US a steel horse means a motorcycle, it's not Jon or Richie who came up with this.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

interesting... never knew nuthing of this

I always thought it was a bus or plane, after all it makes sense. Although prior to SWW the band will have probably toured on a bus due to their financial situation, which means they would still be riding on a bus when they wrote Wanted, as SWW hadn't been released.

That's true.
Still the song is about touring and how it can make you burnt out.
If you watch the video it's pretty obvious.
The steel horse just fits the cowboy theme better.

in this case, it isn't. if you watch the numerous interviews with the band where they discuss the concept behind the song, you will see that they were referring to the tour bus.

Supersonic 02-02-2004 04:37 PM

Aloha !

I'm going the "Imbeingapaininthearseway" now by saying videos most of the time have a storyline that doesn't follow the storyline of the song itself but have one that is made up by the director who didn't dig the song.

:P

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

It is about the tour bus, If you watch the video its obvious. Best video, Best song :D

RyanBounce04 02-03-2004 12:38 AM

Sebastiaan is right, it does refer to Jon's motorcycle, but in a way you can refer to it as the tour bus if you are talking about the band and the touring. :)

i think supersonic is right. i have read several times in interviews that the steel horse is a bike. lol well, can you imagine a horse having the shape of a bus? :P

Captain_jovi 02-03-2004 05:46 AM

Supersonic is right in the sense that a Steel Horse is another name for a motorcycle. But with the band touring at the rate they were at that time, I'm positive they were refering the tour bus. If the whole damn song is about life on the road, it wouldn't make much sense for them to throw in a line about riding a motorcycle.

Plus, in interviews, the band have confirmed it. They didn't stop riding busses until the SWW tour and I assume "Wanted" was written about the 7800 tour?

*shrugs*
