Tony Martin To Stand As MP (Possibly...)

Convicted killer Tony Martin has said he is considering standing as an MP in a bid to change the law which saw him jailed for killing a burglar.

The Norfolk farmer served three years of a five-year term for shooting dead intruder Fred Barras, 16, at Bleak House, his remote farmhouse in 1999.

A second burglar Brendan Fearon, 33, was seriously injured in the incident.

Martin, 59, told the Daily Mirror if he did stand he would campaign for a "return to law and order and decency."

Voice

"Everywhere I go people tell me how they are living in fear," he said.

"But none of the political parties seem to be prepared to do anything about it," he told the Mirror.

"I have only begun to think about standing for Parliament recently - but I will only stand if I believe I can make a difference," he added.

"I want to give people a voice and get something done," he said.

hear hear for him being a hero but he can't stand as hes been in the jailf or over a year.

says alot when he can get jailed longer for rightfully defending urself than maxinne carr who is pretty much as to blame as huntley.

i hope she gets set on fire when she gets out the jaila nd i say that with all sincerity.

Yea, I would vote for him too... Here in Oklahoma we have the right to shoot anyone that's on our property... It's weird I know...

Ryan

I find it amazing how someone can be convicted of shooting an unarmed person (criminal or not) in the back and be considered a hero.

Tony Martin would be a hero if he'd saved someone's life. (Hero is a word that's seriously missused these days) However, he did the right thing. Only in a country where the people have no rights is it considered ok for a person to be jailed for defending themselves. (No Ryan, its not weird, its natural law)

I agree. I dont think he should have gone to jail but he's no hero of mine. If every person shot a burgler, would that be ok???

Also Jim about Maxine Carr, I must be one of the few people who thinks she should be released. I honestly dont believe she ever though Huntely killed those gilrs, the only thing she is guilty of is being incredibly stupid.

**** yeah, then this country would be several million scallies less.

Either way she still didn't tell the police the truth. If she trully thought he wasn't involved then why would she not tell the whole truth?

If someone comes into my house I'm going to do whatever I feel the need to get them the **** out of there and if shooting them happens to be it then I will.

Remember a while ago I wrote a post saying i thought my house was being broke into with just me, ashlea and my sister in sleeping and I ran downstairs with a belt ready to beat the absolute shit out of whoever did it?

k it was a false alarm btu when u think someone has the audacity to come onto your property you want blood and if I had a gun I'd have had that in my hand instead of a belt.

And this is why I'm so glad that guns are not easy to get in this country. The difference between a belt and a gun is the force you use. This is what the whole Tony Martin case was based on, and was why he went to prison. Shooting an unarmed man in the back, criminal or not, is deemed as excessive force. If Tony Martin had hit him with a belt in order to make him stop he wouldn't have been sent to jail. All the more reason to not have a gun IMO.

Personally I don;t care. if some gypsy bastard breaks into my house and tries to take my persoanl belongings that I've earned then I'll do whatever the **** i feel necesarry.

Until you're put int hat position you can't say how you would react but I know for a fact i'd rather do what he done and do a bit of time than lie in my bed letting some bastard raid my house
