Arnie declares gay marriages illegal

a bit hypocritcal for a dude that spend the early part of his career walking around showing of his muscles whilst barely hiding his modesty with a loin cloth but he's declared all the gay marriages that've just took place in San fran illegal.

anyone care to discuss.........

Yeah I read it in the newspaper today.... What's wrong with a gay marriage?? If 2 men or 2 women want to marry each other, let them go. What's the big deal? There's nothing wrong with that! There are worse things in life... I really don't understand why Bush is spending his time on this kind of crap.

Maybe it is because I am Dutch and we are more progressive than the Americans. But I don't think I would have a different opinion when I would live in the US.

From another angle, what is the point of a gay marriage?

Marriage consolidates a relationship in front of god. If the people getting married were christian, they wouldn't be gay as its against their religion. If they don't believe in christianity why do they need to get married?

and let's face it. we all know who to put the safe money on in a boxing match between arnie and graham norton.

on a more serious note, as mike said, what's the actual point of a gay marriage? when i went for my big brother call back they asked us what we thought and even though i'm not a wholly religious person and spent alot of time on here going against it, i still respect religion and the idea of people getting married is a religious one and there's no place for gay marriage in most religion as it's unnatural.

wrong? depends what you think but like it or not, it is unnatural.

Basicly you're saying that when you're gay you can't be Christian ?

the thign about religion is that it's full of hypocracy but it's pretty basic that gayness isn't accepted in the Christian faith.

I have never considered the marriage as a religious thing. Lots of people only marriage for the law and not in the church. (At least, that's what happens in Holland a lot).

I see the marriage as a commitment to each other. It's a symbol that you want to spend the rest of your life with someone. Basically, nothing changes when you get married, but I see it as a symbol. Both for gay as for non-gay people.

Good!! If two people love eacother they should beable to marry. If they are gay, straight, black, white, blue, human, animal ( you get my point...)

People are born that way. Gay or not. They should get the same rights as everyone else does. They aren't hurting anyone. Enen if they are Christian, what are they suuposed to do? Take classes to make them strait? I think its sad how people single them out like this IMO :-/

Here in Germany marriage has absolutely nothing to do with the church. I can imagine that gay people want to marry for several reasons beside Love, like taxes law (married people have some benefits when it comes to taxes or inheritancea) or just as simple things as becoming infos when their partner is in hospital. Only the wife/husband and close family get infos when someone is in hospital.
