What is a "funky feeling"?

I need some help:

There is a music style called "Funk". I always thought it would mean something positive but suddenly my dictionary tells me that "funk" means something like fear.

So, when I say "it's a funky feeling", what does it actually mean?

I know to be in a funk means to be very worried or unhappy about something.

From my dictionary:

Funk: style of dance with a strong beat
Funky (of music): passionate or soulful

I remember Anastacia as support act in 2001 and she said: Do you wanna get funky??? Well... don't ask a BJ crowd to be funky... the response was very low

"Play that funky music white boy"

Heheh..Vanilla Ice sang about being funky. :D

I have heard it used both ways.

I am in a funk. Meaning that I am in a bit of a depression.

or

Funky, meaning cool.

It depends on the context. If you said that your stomach was feeling funky, it would probably be feeling nauseated. If you said a girl's clothes were funky, it would be mean that they were trendy and cool. If you said you were in a funk, it would mean you're depressed.

Ok, I think I got it. Thank you!

There's a line in a song I wrote, that goes

Sorry I'm not from here
But I like this funky feeling

I used funky as cool, just like Mousebounce said. Suddenly I just feared I had to change it, but it looks like the word can stay :-)
