Sometimes by James

There's a storm outside, and the gap between crack and thunder
Crack and thunder, is closing in, is closing in
The rain floods gutters, and makes a great sound on the concrete
On a flat roof, there's a boy leaning against the wall of rain
Aerial held high, calling "come on thunder, come on thunder"

Sometimes, when I look deep in your eyes, I swear I can see your soul
Sometimes, when I look deep in your eyes, I swear I can see your soul

It's a monsoon, and the rain lifts lids off cars
Spinning buses like toys, stripping them to chrome
Across the bay, the waves are turning into something else
Picking up fishing boats and spewing them on the shore

The boy is hit, lit up against the sky, like a sign, like a neon sign
And he crumples, drops into the gutter, legs twitching
The flood swells his clothes and delivers him on, delivers him on

Sometimes, when I look deep in your eyes, I swear I can see your soul
Sometimes, when I look deep in your eyes, I swear I can see your soul

There's four new colors in the rainbow
An old man's taking polaroids
But all he captures is endless rain, endless rain
He says listen, takes my head and puts my ear to his
And I swear I can hear the sea

Somtimes, when I look in your eyes I can see your soul
(I can reach your soul)
(I can touch your soul)
Sometimes

I dunno about best lyrics but i think "everybody hurts" by REM is great cos its true, When people are upset they think they are alone. And as the video shows everyone has there problems and are sitting there worrying about them, Thats why people shouldnt worry about wot people htink of them as they are probably to caught up int their own problems to care...

I would say "Ghost Story" by Sting, but that's just because it means something to me. Apart from that, I think "The wind cries Mary" has amazing lyrics:

The Wind Cries Mary

After all the jacks are in their boxes and the clowns have all gone to bed
You can hear happiness staggering on down the street
Footprints dressed in red and the wind whispers mary

A broom is drearily sweeping up the broken pieces of yesterday’s life
Somewhere a queen is weeping somewhere a king has no wife
And the wind it cries mary

The traffic lights they turn of blue tomorrow
And shine their emptiness down on my bed
The tiny island sails downstream cause the life that lived is is dead
And the wind screams mary

Will the wind ever remember the names it has blown in the past
And with this crutch it’s old age and it’s wisdom
It whispers no this will be the last
And the wind cries mary

Actually, anything by Jimi Hendrix.....

Little Wing

Well she’s walking through the clouds
With a circus mind that’s running round
Butterflies and zebras
And moonbeams and fairy tales
That’s all she ever thinks about
Riding with the wind.

When I’m sad, she comes to me
With a thousand smiles, she gives to me free
It’s alright she says it’s alright
Take anything you want from me, anything
Anything.

Fly on little wing

Castles Made of Sand

Down the street you can hear her scream "you’re a disgrace"
As she slams the door in his drunken face
And now he stands outside
And all the neighbours start to gossip and drool
He cries "oh, girl you must be mad,
What happened to the sweet love you and me had? "
Against the door he leans and starts a scene,
And his tears fall and burn the garden green

And so castles made of sand fall in the sea, eventually

A little indian brave who before he was ten,
Played wargames in the woods with his indian friends
And he built up a dream that when he grew up
He would be a fearless warrior indian cheif
Many moons past and more the dream grew strong until
Tomorrow he would sing his first warsong and fight his first battle
But something went wrong, surprise attack killed him in his sleep that night

And so castles made of sand melts into the sea, eventually

There was a young girl, whos heart was a frown
’cause she was crippled for life,
And she couldn’t speak a sound
And she wished and prayed she could stop living,
So she decided to die
She drew her wheelchair to the edge of the shore
And to her legs she smiled "you won’t hurt me no more"
But then a sight she’d never seen made her jump and say
"look a golden winged ship is passing my way"

And it really didn’t have to stop, it just kept on going...

And so castles made of sand slips into the sea, eventually

Bold As Love

Anger he smiles, towering in shiny metallic purple armour
Queen jealousy, envy waits behind him
Her fiery green gown sneers at the grassy ground

Blue are the life-giving waters taken for granted,
They quietly understand
Once happy turquoise armies lay opposite ready,
But wonder why the fight is on

But they’re all bold as love, yes, they’re all bold as love
Yeah, they’re all bold as love
Just ask the axis

My red is so confident, he flashes trophies of war and ribbons of euphoria
Orange is young, full of daring, but very unsteady for the first go round
My yellow in this case is not so mellow. In fact I’m trying to say it’s frigthened like me
And all these emotions of mine keep holding me from, eh,
Giving my life to a rainbow like you

But, I’m bold as love
Well I’m bold, bold as love
I’m bold as love
Just ask the axis (he knows everything)
Yeah, yeah, yeah

Angel

Angel came down
From heaven yesterday,
Stayed with me just long enough
To rescue me....

And she told me a story yesterday;
About the sweet love
Between the moon and the deep blue sea.

Then she spread her wings high over me.
She said,’i’ll come back again to see you tomorrow....

And I said fly on, my sweet angel.
Fly on through the sky.
Fly on, my sweet angel.
Tomorrow I’m gonna be by your side....

Sure enough,
This woman came home to me.
Silver wings silhouetted against a child’s sunrise....
And my angel, She said unto me, ’today is the day for you to rise.’
Take my hand, you’re gonna be my man, you're gonna rise
And she took me high over yonder.....

And I said fly on, my sweet angel.
Fly on through the sky.
Fly on, my sweet angel.
Tomorrow I’m gonna be by your side....

LIVE - The stood up for love

Naked lovers feel the blood beneath their veins
Electric nerves communicate
With tiny explosions through our brains
Who is this energy that never left or came?
Give rise to passion the only glory of this human story

I give my heart and soul to the one

We spend all of our lives goin' out of our minds
Looking back to our birth, forward to our demise
Even scientists say, everything is just light
Not created, destroyed but eternally bright
Masters in everytime lord in everyplace
Those who stood up for love down in spite of the hate
In spite of the hate

Who put the flower in the barrel of that gun?
Who lit the candle that started the fire,
Burnt down the fortress, the throne?
Who could house all the refugees in a single shack or a lowly bungalow?
Who lives in a different dimension, free from the struggles we know?

I give my heart and soul to the one

We spend all of our lives goin' out of our minds
Looking back to our birth, forward to our demise
Even scientists say, everything is just light
Not created, destroyed but eternally bright
Masters in everytime lord in everyplace
Those who stood up for love down in spite of the hate
We spend all of our lives goin' out of our minds
They live in the light

We made it to the moon
But we can't make it home
Waitin' on a rescue that never comes
Made it to the moon
But we can't make it home
Maybe home is where the heart is given up
To the one
To the one

We spend all of our lives goin' out of our minds
Lookin' back to our birth, forward to our demise
We spend all of our lives goin' out of our minds
They live, they

They stood up for love
Stood up for love
Stood up for love
They stood up for love
Stood up for love
Stood up for love

We spend all of our lives goin' out of our minds
Masters in everytime
We spend all of our lives goin' out of our minds
Stood up for love

I dont think so. It sounds like it was stolen from the saying, "the eyes are the window to the soul." It's just worded differently.

As for the best song lyrically, i can't pick one. There are lots of great songs out there.

Whether it's "stole" or not is irrelevant. it's still a great ****ing line and can mean so much yet so little at the same time.

do yourself a favour and buy James' greatest hits. this is on it along with plenty of other amazing songs.

Sometime's is kind of a wierd tune in that it doesn't really sound like a rock song or any genre you could easilly pin point but it touches me and i con't even know why it just does

Tears in heaven - Eric Clapton. You gotta admire how he managed to write a song about what happened to his son.

Would you know my name
If I saw you in heaven?
Would it be the same
If I saw you in heaven?

I must be strong
And carry on,
'Cause I know I don't belong
Here in heaven.

Would you hold my hand
If I saw you in heaven?
Would you help me stand
If I saw you in heaven?

I'll find my way
Through night and day,
'Cause I know I just can't stay
Here in heaven.

Time can bring you down,
Time can bend your knees.
Time can break your heart,
Have you begging please, begging please.

Beyond the door,
There's peace I'm sure,
And I know there'll be no more
Tears in heaven.

Would you know my name
If I saw you in heaven?
Would it be the same
If I saw you in heaven?

I must be strong
And carry on,
'Cause I know I don't belong
Here in heaven
