I was thinking this for quite a few days now, wouldn't it be cool if Bon Jovi did the same thing as Metallica on their current tour? Record every show from the soundboard and sell them over the internet. This would be a great idea, since it's cool to have shows with rare songs and to have shows you attended by yourself. Would you consider buy some shows if they are about $12,95 for lossless quality?

Absolutely! I collect shows and I love to have them. Some I like to have are hard tofind and when i find them they are poor quality. So I sure would buy some!

Maybe it's time to start a petition about this, so Bon Jovi actually sees that people are interested in this!

Of course, as long as they have someone doing a good job on the mix. It has to be done on the fly for the most part and whoever has been handling most of the live broadcasts they've had since 2000 hasn't been doing very good. I haven't heard the Metallica shows yet. Those who have....how well are they handling the mixes?

The drums and bass are always badly mixed with Bon Jovi since 2000. I dunno if they think they are achieving a particular desired sound that they want....they need to be told the name of that particular sound is: Crap. Hughie may hang in the background on stage, but that doesn't mean his bass should also mirror that in the mix. Tico beats the f**k out of the drums everynight...maybe this is due to the fact that he wouldn't be heard at all otherwise.

If they had a mix similar to Yokohama 1996 where everyone is up front then I'll be happy.

Well i've got some shows from Metallica already. Their mix is ok, although the drums sound really bad since they are using the same drumkit as for the St. Anger album. Otherwise it's really good and there is a big difference between the cheaper mp3 files and the FLAC files. You can't hear the crowd too well thats my only complaint.

I've heard some songs from Metallica too by now thanks to Thierry and to be honest the sound is about the same as the sound from Bon Jovi's live versions since 2000. The crowd indeed is mixed to far away which makes it look like a soundcheck, and not like a real live show. Though Bleeding Purist has got a point, in my opinion their live recordings began to suck during the KTF era. Wasn't this the time Obie arrived ?

I like the idea of releasing Bon Jovi shows in this way, but I think they'd edit a lot of their songs. No Sympathy in Faith, no RAATW in Sleep etcetera.

I am not sure about Obie. Honestly, I don't have much issue with most of the KTF and These Days recordings. He began taking part in the engineering with KTF the album. Anyone with tour books from those two tours, look up the personnel and see who was handling the mixing.

Offhand, the only These Days tour recording I can think of that I thought was poorly handled was Johannesburg. This is based both on the audio from the TV broadcast and the These Days remaster bonus CD.

We haven't seen any real influx of soundboard recordings since. Everything since Crush has been sparse (read: 1 soundboard recording.) All we have are those odd TV appearances, shows like Zepp in Tokyo, Shepherds Bush, Times Square, VH1's One Last Wild Night, Storytellers, Manhattan Ballroom, the QVC Broadcast. They are either partial shows or one off shows. The only full soundboard from a regular tour date was Zurich 2000 and that was horrid. HORRID I say! They improved it for the DVD and that still sucked. In fact all of those recordings I just mentioned just plain suck the snot out of Karl Maldens (please tell me some people know who he is, I'm not that old) nose.

So when comparing the KTF and These Days recordings we have with those I mentioned above..there was still a considerable drop that occured in between 1996 and 2000.

all that will happen is a couple of people will buy the files and then share them with everyone else. whether or not it will be economical for the band to do something like this is something to be seen.
