Do you give..
Do you give to charity? we do at work for children but now we get at least one phone call a day asking for money and its getting to be a real pain in the arse. Now i just feel like telling them to get lost. So do you get any hassle like this?

At the moment I am not. I will buy some lottery tickets for Scoutings and so on but not just give money.

I give to registered charities. I dont give to homeless people and beggers. I know some cases are genuine, but i know for a fact the ones near where i work are driving round in new cars. Also, part of my job is to help re-house people, I know there are empty properties for these people to live in if they wished to where I live.

At a moment i need some charity.

Yeah, I give to the AIDS foundation and Greenpeace. I also want to give money to a charity that relocates animals that have been tested on. I don't give to beggars although if they are selling the Big Issue I usually give them money and not take the magazine.

Yes, my family gives to various charities, though we never give money to people over the phone. Besides, we're on the No-Call-List, so hardly any telemarketers can call us.

We are on the no call list too. When we did get calls, people were so pushy, even if I said we don't give over the phone. They would always take a "no" from my husband, but bother the crap out of me. We do give to the Vietnam(sp?) Vets every year(my father in law was in Vietnam). We also donate to a couple of others when we can.

strangely enough charities dont bother ringing students...;d
I give to the RAFA, used to collect for them too, oh and the British Legion of course |
the only one i regularly contribute too is the poppy appeal and i stick change in a jar at our local pub for the childrens orange lodge.

It depends on the charity. I give to St. Jude's because I know it's legit. I also give to some animal rescue organizations (aside from the one I run known as my house LOL). I used to give to the Highway Patrol solicitors, but I stopped because a highway patrolman I know told me that some of those are scams. I had a really fun--that was sarcasm--conversation with someone from a charity. They called and asked for someone, a wrong number. So, they continued with, "Maybe you can help out" and went into their spill. I told him I had no way to know that his organization was legitimate and he said, "You've given before." I said, "No I haven't." And he said, "That's why we have you're number." I said, "You don't have MY number. You asked for Mrs. Jones" or whatever her name was. He hung up on me. I don't give out any info over the phone either.
