Going to try and not drink for a month

Seriously.

I don't think I've got a problem but it pretty easilly could become one. At my bro's gig the other day I drank Stella from 4 o clock right through to midnight, jumped in a car home from the gig (i wasn;t driving btw) and whereas the guys from the band decided they wanted to have a cup of tea and go to bed, i cracked open another beer and hoped some of the guys coming in behind us were up for keeping going.

I can go days without even thinking about drinking then feel an urge and if there's beer or anything in the house I'll have a couple which isn't really healthy so.....

I've read that it takes 3 weeks to stop cravings so I'm tryign to go 4 just for the sake of it.

No one probably cares but I'll probably get more support and encouragement from here than from my mates.

good to hear that, try to control it while it doesnt control you yet. drinking is ok, but everything has to be done with moderation

I hope it works Jim and I wish you all the best! I think it is a good thing you are doing and I really don't think it would do your body any damage to stop for a while. If you need to chat, you know where to find me!

I'll be fine. I doubt I'm going to be waking up in cold sweats dying for a beer and I'm fine as long as there's nothing in the house for me to drink thats relatively soft ie beer or cans of cider.

It's got to the point where one of my mates is pretty much in a dead end job, not got much chance of moving onto anything considerably better and drinks every day whethe rit's int he pub or house and it's just dawned on me how easy it can be to get into a situation like that.

Cheers for the support cause I can guarantee my mates will all take the piss when I tell them i;'m not drinking when we're out.

Best of luck to you Jim! Think about what great shape you will be in by the time 4 weeks is over. Not that you aren't now, but you know what I mean.
