European football....is it overrated?
 

Why is this sport considered to be the greatest one on the planet? Don't get me wrong, I find it an entertaining game to watch and I admire both the stamina and skill required in the game, but I see those elements in other sports, and more.

For those of you who actually believe this, please tell me why, as I cannot figure it out. :?

I wouldn't say it's the greatest...It's for sure the most popular and the most played but I don't know the reason why.

I think it's extremely overrated. The fact that in Spain the most read newspaper is a sports one (or football one if you look at the actual contents) is very scary. :shock:

And the way people make such a fuss of all things regarding football is... well, I don't know what it is, because I don't get it at all.

There's the odd final and stuff which interests one and all but apart from that, I find it very boring.

i think it's overated too, of course, the sport itself is good, but everything around it, all this money !!! that's what i dislike about it.

i agree with jess.

on the other hand though, i dont mind watching 20 sexy lads chasing after a ball :D

it's all about the money, but it's the only 'major' game i seem to get.
I'm to stupid for the other game rules :)

an example of why football is the greatest sport on earth (and its not just european...teams like Brazil, Argy-Bary etc) this week has been shite for Arsenal...needed to win today, go 1 nil down, equalise, go 1-2 down, after half time pires scores! 2-2, then henry scores, 3-2!, then a minute or two later he scores again ! :D :D 4-2 to the Arsenal!

well my favorite sport is hockey, and many people here in switzerland think that this is also the most popular sport here (maybe together with skiing). but football comes close to it in popularity, even so i think it's not as interresting as hockey.

the good thing about football is, that there are many many international games, probably that's one of the reasons why it became so popular... at least that's my opinion about it. and i think almost everybody likes to see international games when his/her country is involved.
