Something for the pain

In the beginning of the song, before the singing starts, doesn't it sound like two people (Jon and Richie?!) are talking in the background? :?

Yes. I've always thought it was "God save the queen? Why? Because you can't sing" but others have said it was "Because she can't swim."

It's these sort of things that give Faith and These Days a more real and raw feel to the albums. Its a shame this was somewhat lost with the recording, mixing and production of Crush and Bounce.

Yeah I noticed that too... These Days especially has a really organic feel to it when you compare it to songs like It's My Life for example. On These Days you can almost imagine the band are playing everything live rather than mixing everything and putting it together. I think the music flows a little better on that album. I still love Crush though!

I feel like These Days is just cheesy... Keep The Faith is a lot more upbeat and songs are better in my opinion.

These Days is a fantastic song!!! And the text.. so catchy...

Dayle 04-11-2004 06:01 PM

I heard it was

"God Save the King"
"Why?"
"Because He Can't Swing"

Referring to Richie's nickname the King Of Swing and that he can no longer "swing" with the ladies as he had now married Heather!!

bit of a tangent there mate. they were talking about the production on the album, not the songs......
