ballads they should have released

while until THESE DAYS and the release of LIE TO ME and THIS AIN'T A LOVE SONG which were IMO two great power ballad in the style of their previous effort, the ballads were one of their strongest points, i think even if i like TFLM they didn't write great ballad anymore...
songs like save the world all about lovin you you had me from hello didn't match the quality of their previous efforts..
in fact those songs never reached great public response....
i think if they would have release a ballad like LONG WAY TO GO by def leppard (2002) they quite possibly would have achieve better results.....and less critics

i think the ballads on crush and bounce are great, with the exception of she's a mystery.

I don't need ballads.

Well they havnt had one outstanding ballad since This Aint a love song. My theory is, its because Jon and Richie are in happy relationships. The best love songs are about, unrequited love, saying sorry, regret etc. They wont have another Always, Il be there for you, bed of roses until one of their relationships breaks up. (not that I want it to happen)

i disagree....despite the fact the ballads are not always concernig about broken-heart all the time but they could speak also about happy love-story....and also you have not to be in a sad mood to write great music...even if songs like bed of roses i'll be there for you or always speak about "sad" story i don't find them sad love song musically....

did I miss something did Def Leppard get a great public reaction from "Long way to go"???
Did X get a great public reaction at all??
no it did not, it is a great album but I personally think the fact that they didn't even write the song dissapoint's me a little.I don't know why that's just me. It just doesn't sound sincere.
It is true that they should make a stronger ballad if they want to release it as a single but, they have enough hit ballads as it is, For them to release Rock songs and mid tempos as singles would be better next time around.

I wouldn't dare compare the ballads off crush and bounce to the these days ones. They're just so full of emotion. The lyrics, the riffs and especially the guitar solos blow you away, and the production is perfect, tehy really make you FEEL. The later ones are just fill ins from my point of view, sad but true!
