Hollywood walk of fame

Does someone know if BJ gonna get a star? Or do they??

It seems like everybody gets on these days...

It's not an honor it's something that's bought. So if Bon Jovi ever gets one it will be because Universal plops out the money.

There have been fan initiatives to get them a star in the past. I was part of a group of 4 who looked into it in 1993. When it comes down to it, the band do not want fans buying them a star and that's what it would amount to. The record company will probably do it one day. But once you're aware of the process of getting one, the whole "Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame" really looses it's appeal.

I never knew that!! Is that for everyone, I mean for actors as well?? So technically anyone could have a star??? That has taken all the magic away now... :?

That explains a lot. I wondered why Britney Spears and The Olsen Twins recently got "Stars". Now I totally understand...

Here is a little more info on "who" and "why" stars get stars! It was very interesting to learn how it happens. Although a "star" can get nominated by whomever (label, fan club, another person) pays the money, it may take several years to be approved by the Hollywood committee, whomever that might be. I was wondering how that worked. Pretty interesting.....

 And what's the use of that then? :?

Becky 05-03-2004 09:33 PM

There is no use. It's just publicity. That's why so many artists get them just as a new CD is coming out or just as a new movie is coming out. If I were a wagering woman, I'd put odds on Bon Jovi getting one about November, sometime around the release of the 20 year box set.

Becky

PS: No, I do not know that November is the release date. I'm guessing that based on the idea that they will release it 4th quarter so it will be a Christmas seller.

Isn't there also a thing where if your star is in front of a store the owner has to approve? If they don't you can't get your star at that time. I could swear I heard some celebrity talking about it once.
