7800 degrees Farenheit live
I just downloaded a live version of Tokyo Road which Im assuming was recorded around 1985. It sounds better than the album version I think, and the energy of the performance really gives the song the extra kick I think the studio version needed. The intro is better too. Just Jon yelling "take me back to Tokyo Road" would have been much better than the album version intro IMO.
I noticed the same thing with the In and Out of Love live version. The intro and ending to that song is amazing. I just wonder why they didn't put it on the album. There are too many "In and Out of Loves" in the album version and the intro doesn't help that. While I really like the album the way it is, I can't help thinking there is a potentially better album in there as Jon has said in the past, but IMO not necessarily with different songs. Maybe better production could have brought out the full potential of these songs. Do you think if Farenheit was recorded differently, it would have improved it? |
Personally I think ther's nothing wrong with it, but yes, it does sound a hell of a lot better live, especially with Richie's amazing solos. The video of the Japan gig on that tour is a classic! I think it's an AMAZING album, just try comparing it to crush or bounce, they're pathetic by it's side (that's opinion not fact!) :D
