There was a kid in my school called Richard Head! What sort of sick people call their child that?

If you don't get it, then think of some nicknames for Richard

I think people complain too much about what others name their children. It's because most people think anything other than standard names are stupid, so anything outside what they class normal they would frown upon.

A name is just a random assortment of letters to distinguish us from others, why does it matter if it's something simple like John or Roger, or if it's something like Apple or Brookyln? If you don't like those names then no one is making you name your children that.

Would you complain at primitive tribes across the world that name their children differently than we would, or how about looking at some Chinese or Japanese names, which are very "odd" compared to English or American names.

Maybe we should all make up names, that way your child would be totally unique, instead of a world with many John Smiths etc.

:? I really don't understand something like that.

In france, a couple of years ago some parents didn't have the authorisation to call their daughter Megane, because their surname was Renault ...... and it's not a joke. Hopefully someone stopped them, think of the poor kid.
And if you don't know Renault Megane is a car we see everywhere here.

Have you ever tried to pronounce and learn those Japanese names  They shoudl be called John Smith as well!!!!

2 reasons for calling your kids normal names

1) Nobody really wants a different name, certainly in school, but even when you're older it's not exactly going to be the greatest thing in the world applying for jobs etc. Exception being if you're somebody like Frank Zappa, in which case you're kids are always going to be able to say 'yeah but my dad was the coolest guy ever!'

2) They're all going to have swimming teachers one day. It's not fair to have wierd names, I'm never going to be able to learn them, and then when I look on the register to try and work it out I'm just hit with all these wierd letters that bare no reseblence to the name. I'm sorry but it's the same with some Chinese, Indian names. If they're very unusual school teachers, swimming teachers, class mates e.t.c. are all not going to be able to say their names, and paticularly the teachers will be very consious about saying it wrong! I don't think it's far to give a kid a name in a country where it's so uncommon to the extent nobody knows what the **** they are called!!!!!!!!!

In Bali they have something like 6 names, and just 6 names... Now that's a sensible aproach to names!!!!!!!!!!

And then they say: what`s in a name....
:D
