The Censoring here.

I think they need to uncensor the word Dick.
I mean I understand that it can be used in a wrong or somewhat insulting manner but imagine if there was a post about some of your favorite tv show hosts and I say "One of my favorites is Dick Clark"
or if i was gonna say "Isn't Dick Chaney unintentionally funny??"
Or "Why are a lot of people that are called Frank get called Dick??"
You see what I'm saying??

This was very funny to read
But i see ur point, some censoring can be/look a little 'overboard'

Davesta 05-25-2004 12:39 PM

I can't say I've ever really thought of dick as a swear word.....

I think any censorship is stupid, as they are only words. If I say "I'm going for a crap" it isn't censored, but "I'm going for a shit" is censored, yet it's the same thing. Or "I've got a bum" isn't censored, but "I've got an arse" is censored. This could go on for a while, as most "swear" words have alternates that are passable, but they are not.

They are just words, why are people so "offended" by them?

It's simple enough to get around it.

We get the point Thomas, but some people are offended by those words.

Well maybe these people would like to post and tell us why they are offended by these words, as that's all they are, words.

Why do ppl feel the need to swear all the time?? It isn't necessary to get any message across whatsoever. Some people are offended, hence it is up to you ppl to try & expand your vocabulary.

I might just take you up on that. I can't act normally here, I have to constantly think about if what I'm doing is going to "offend" anyone, and I'm fed up of having to do that.

Think about what you are doing? No naked pics and no excessive swearing. What is there really to think about?
