depressed people
do you think being around depressed people has the influence of making you slightly depressed too?
|
Yes, I think others can have a great influence on your mood. Especially if someone has negative feelings they can rub off on you..
|
yes of course. It happens to me all the time....I got many depressed friends. I have to avoid them otherwise I'll get depressed too.

Have been really depressed (U don't wanna know HOW bad  )... My boss had a depression and she worked it all out on me  !! I couldn't handle it, and in the end thought I was no good at all and everything that went wrong was my fault :? ! I didn't show it to her, when she yelled at me and got mad (mostly without reason) I just turned around and walked away  .
Now I have to be carefull, 'cause I feel when something really goes wrong I can feel myself going down again... and I don't want to go through it all over again... I have learnt to talk more about my feelings, which I didn't do back then. But yes, I feel when I am among depressed or sad people, I tend to go "down" again :? |

Having a gloomy feeling and being "down" are different from clinical depression. Yes, being around a fun crowd will make you more happy and being around negative creeps will not make you particularly fun. But all those things are not true depression. They are just feelings - depression is a mental illness. If I read depression, I think of clinical depression - not the feeling of sadness. Very very big difference, though people use the terms interchangably. I do agree that being with a depressed person is usually not fun and as such people may feel sad as well. |
