I thought it was about a friend of his. Judging by his speech before singing the song live back in the 80s. Example- the infamous MTV awards performance, Jon explains the story. I suppose it could be about him, but I'd have to agree that you're too bored. :wink:

Weren't Tommy and Gina two people he knew in school? Obviously not their actual names but you know what I'm getting at.

Tommy and Gina are both fictional charactors. They both went to school with Jon and david. Gina got pregnant when she was young and they were really down on luck according to Jon. Their names have been changed to protect the innocence.

Jon and Richie both say that they ARE fictional, and based on a lot of people they knew, not just a couple.

Yes. Have you not listened to Jons speaches before Livin On A Prayer? Jon has described Tommy And Gina many of times. Yes these people went to school with Jon, and I think Neil is correct in saying that theyre based on a couple not a lot of people they knew.

:? I always thought Tommy and Gina were just fictional characters the band made up, and that they represented people who were feeling down and having a tough time in life.
