Why Bon Jovi refuses to be associated with 80's bands.

Now I know why BJ always avoid being on 80's compilation albums, and refuse to be pigeonholed in that genre even though they were arguably the biggest and most notable act of the "hair band" scene in the 80's.

But you have to remember if they would not be associated with Iron Maiden, Whitesnake, The Scorpions or any band that can still bring the goods.
They would be associated with acts such as

Warrant:

and Motley Crue:

So i really can't blame them for trying to avoid that backlash.

This cannot possible be the same Jani Lane I had a minor crush on in the 80s!!! My Jani Lane was in shape, had lovely eyes and a face of an angel .... hold it, that was a darn long time ago.

Vince Neil - hahaha - well, he is just tragic. :(

I actually feel a bit sorry for Vince. It can't be easy loosing his daughter to cancer I think it was and she was I think 4 years old.
He's been F*cked up ever since, playing drunk shows, often not even finishing his set, and even puking on stage.

I found this bit of news on him thought I'd add it here Don't know if it's true or not so if anybody can confirm the authenticity of this feel free to do so.

According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, former MÖTLEY CRÜE singer Vince Neil is scheduled to begin a three-month extreme makeover today for MTV's version of "The Swan".

"I call him 'The Mallard,' " said Leah Gerardini, Neil's fiancée.

At 43, Vince is the first rock star to join the reality re-do craze.

The new Neil will be revealed August 28, after seeing a lot of a trainer, a plastic surgeon and a lifestyle counselor.

Starting today, he consults with a plastic surgeon and cuts out drinking.

"It's not just for me, but for my career," said Neil, who is in negotiations to reunite in January with MÖTLEY CRÜE, if he and former drummer Tommy Lee can get past their feud.

MTV is billing the show as "The Remaking of Vince Neil". At stake for Neil is a recording contract and the opportunity to work with a top producer and a recording artist.

I had no idea!! Now I feel horrid!!!

Really though, I was a major Motley fan in the 80s. My boyfriend seriously thought he was Nikki Sixx, though I had a major crush on Vince Neil. Seeing him today is just sad - really sad.

I really wish he and Tommy would get over things and get their acts together - they both need it.

surely bj are among the few survivors from the '80s....and that photos prove why they are still at the top and the others are not.....but they are still at the top because what they did back in the 80s and not for looking great or releasing poppy ballads..........

Pedro BadName 07-13-2004 05:26 PM

I heard it once and totally agree... class is what makes BJ different from all the other hair bands from the 80's. Despite BJ had started the hair metal movement, they rapidly proved with solid compositions and performences like the one at MTV's award ceremony in 89, where jon and richie took the stage with 2 acoustic guitar, that they had come to stay. The fact that they are great songwriters, composers and that they know how to evolve without paying too much attention on fashions made them the stars they are in nowardays,
