The Glory of GErshwin on German TV

First I want to say that I'm not sure if it is that what I think it could be.

On Germany Pay-TV channel Classica that belongs to Premiere will be a show about the recordings of a Gershwin tribute album from 1994. The show is called The Glory of Gershwin which is also the title of a tribute album where Richie and Jon took part in. It could be though that they appear in this show but I'm not sure. The show will be on August 6 at 7.10 pm CET.

I personally don't have this channel, I just saw it in a TV magazine.

What song did they do for that album?

Sambo-Chris 07-16-2004 08:51 PM

The song is called How long has this been going on.

Great song if you ask me - Jon's voice sounds fabulous for this jazzy style :D (IMO)

I know that song. Is that a Gershwin song?

Sambo-Chris 07-17-2004 01:08 PM

It is a tribute album so it is quite likely a Gershwin song.

Yes. George Martin, famous for his work with The Fab Four, produced the CD. That's why Jon brought along Richie--for the Beatles connection. They just wanted to hear stories from George Martin. George Martin commented on a special I saw at the time of the release that Jon was one of the voices he wanted to work with and that he nailed it in one take. It was quite a compliment. In my dreams, Bon Jovi would do a whole CD with George Martin. The CD is also a tribute to Larry Adler.

According to the TV guide this Larry Adler was the one who had the idea for it and that he went into the Guiness book of records as the oldest Musician in the Top 10.

Becky, do you have the CD? BJ aren't mentioned in the TV Guide but Sinead O'Connor, Elton John and Sting are. Are they on the CD?
