Review: Crush
Here it is... The album that brought Bon Jovi out from under the rock. Give me a review, a few lines of importance, or tell me if you like it or not. Take a listen and then post!

poppier production. some great tunes, some not so great. still better than 80% of the albums out there today

I like some of the songs on it, but some of the ballads in particular are a bit cheesy.Like Jim said, it's a lot poppier than the rest of their albums (apart from Bounce lol). But, hey, I like some pop music now and again

When I bought it I didn't like it at all and hardly played it. Then after Bounce was released I don't know why I resorted to Crush and found it grew on me after every new listen. There are some good songs which are obscured by others that are horrible. One of my least favourite songs by Bon Jovi ever is in there: Say It Isn't So - can't listen to it. And Captain Crash is not my cup of tea either.
But, as I say, I think it's an album that grows on you in time. That's what happened to me anyway :D |
Plenty of really good tracks on it, but Its My Life is the only classic IMO. Next 100 Years, Two Story Town and Mystery Train are other personal favourites. The only tracks I'm not especially fond of are I Got The Girl and Save The World. Otherwise its a very solid album.

First i didn't like that much, but after a year or so i started hearing more and more and appriate ti much better, yeah defnetly ballads are weak point of the ablum. But its been a while since i listen to it, so have to search for it now lol.

On the whole a good return. There are some really good songs on it such as It's My Life, Just Older, Two Storey Town, One Wild Night, Next 100 Years. Those songs are what we'd expect from Bon Jovi, but there are also a few weak songs on the album which I wouldn't have expected from BJ. But on the whole I'd give it 8 out of 10. A good return.

It starts of strong and ends strong, but it's mostly mush in the middle. It's My Life is my favorite song ever and I like Two Story Town, Just Older, Captain Crash, and One Wild Night. The others... well... I could live without most of them.
There are way too many love ballads on this album and they're all taken from the same stance. I think the only one worthy to be on the album is Thank You for Loving Me. And they definately souldn't have two songs about a "Mystery" girl. Even one is too much. It might contain my favorite song, but Crush is actually one of my least favorite Bon Jovi albums. How ironic. Like these Days, I think it concentrates too much on one emotion. While These Days had too many messy break-up songs on it (in my opinion), Crush has too many happy I'm-in-love-with-a-woderful-girl-with-a-lot-of-strange-habbits songs. |
i felt the same also. upon playing the first track, i thought it was non-trash-track album, but when i heard the second track and so on, sigh, i was dissappointed some of the tracks are poppied :) , but i get used to it for almost a year playing the album!

Crush is not my favourite album, there some great songs on it. But in my opinion it's too much poprock and ballad stuff. I miss something on it that I can't describe. I really like some of the lyrics, those are amazing!
I think the album is ok, but not my own favourite! |
