Thomas Anderson 08-14-2006 05:28 PM

You have to press the Print Screen key on your keyboard, and then paste it into a photo editor, crop it to just the image and save it.

Thomas Anderson 08-17-2006 09:22 PM

You not tried it yet Russ, I want to see WeeRuss lmao (that sounded bad, but I obviously mean the WeeMee image of yourself that you created lol)

UKjovi 08-18-2006 10:45 AM

no , i forgot

Thomas Anderson 08-18-2006 02:29 PM

Have a go now then lol

UKjovi 08-18-2006 03:07 PM

Thomas Anderson 08-18-2006 05:10 PM

UKjovi 08-18-2006 05:54 PM

ive made one but i cant open up a bitmap file

Thomas Anderson 08-18-2006 06:17 PM

I think mine is better :p

Thomas Anderson 08-18-2006 07:28 PM

Am working on my website, going to put some of my graphics stuff on there because the next job I'm hopefully going for is a design one and they do website stuff as part, so if I make sure to point them to my website when I write a cover letter they can look and see some of my stuff :) I don't even know a lot of details about this particular job, but it looks interesting, and I'm getting close to the point of I need to start because we have to do 12 months, and I'll need to be back at uni late September next year :?

UKjovi 08-19-2006 12:46 PM

Theres alot of money in that isnt there?

Thomas Anderson 08-19-2006 04:18 PM

In what? lol There's surely plenty money in most things if you do well. I'm going to the place on Monday to find out where exactly it is because on the map it seems a fair way and difficult to get to (well that'd probably be 3 buses) so I'm not sure if I'll be going for that one. Hopefully something will come up, but it had better be quick, I'm going to email the women in charge of placements on Monday and ask her. After the interview on Thursday I was actually looking forward to getting that job, it sounded cool (got more details in the interview - the spec. before-hand it looked good, but not great) I suppose I could hope that the person who got it doesn't accept and they call me back, but I doubt it :(

UKjovi 08-20-2006 01:17 PM

you never know!! well good luck anyway . is it too far to go by bike?

Thomas Anderson 08-20-2006 03:39 PM

Well I don't have a bike anyway lol Regardless its 2 buses just to get into Runcorn, and the reliability of 1 bus is bad enough, 2 is probably pretty bad, but 3 is silly. Am going tomorrow anyway, see where the 2nd bus ends up and if its walking distance, but I doubt it'll be any good to be honest :(

Am gonna contact the placement tutor in the next few days anyway

Thomas Anderson 08-20-2006 08:15 PM

New layout :)

UKjovi 08-20-2006 08:37 PM

Or the other thing to do is learn to drive?

Thomas Anderson 08-20-2006 10:23 PM

That really isn't something I could do, I just know I couldn't do it, and I don't really want to either really. The expense is one issue certainly, and also the fact that public transport, whilst oft unreliable, is more eco friendly and I'm used to it anyway. Yes it limits where I can go, but I really wouldn't be good at, nor like driving.

UKjovi 08-21-2006 10:27 AM

public transport it is then :) Although i still dont get why its eco freindly?

Thomas Anderson 08-21-2006 02:20 PM

Well 1 bus or train containing 50 people uses less fuel and causes less emissions than if each of those 50 people was driving their own car.

UKjovi 08-21-2006 06:04 PM

True if that ever happened but do you ever see a bus full of people? we dont round here

Thomas Anderson 08-21-2006 07:13 PM

Buses 'round here tend to be pretty full, I was on a few today (5 seperate ones) and a couple had a fair few people on them, though this was mid-day.

It's certainly not feasible to get to Runcorn daily though (where I went today) so there's no way I can apply for that, though I did get some nice photo's today, which I shall post later.

UKjovi 08-21-2006 07:25 PM

Thats a shame, so your looking else where now

Thomas Anderson 08-21-2006 07:40 PM

Well I'll obviously keep looking but now is the point where they start to consider if we can progress straight to 3rd year without the placement (though it results in a different degree title, and one with a year of experience doesn't look as good) Of course I will hopefully find something before then, but if I can't I need to start thinking about going back and doing my final year, which would be a bit of a rush to get into as we have a single big project to consider, something which people about to start 3rd year off placement have already thought about. I have a friend who just finished his placement so I'd have someone I knew on the course to attend lectures with etc though it's a pity he's moving to Liverpool for the year else I could have got the train with him in a morning instead of being bored alone lol

Anyway, still looking, just have to see what happens

Thomas Anderson 09-09-2006 06:06 PM

Well I got a letter from my uni today, there was a board who met on Thursday to decide if we could progress to final year without placement, and as I haven't found one they decided I could go straight through. It means a less fancy degree title, and having to miss out on graduating with my mates - well, I do have 1 friend I'll be studying with this year, and hopefully make more - but it will be hard settling straight in and getting into the big final year project, not to mention having studied quite different things in my 1st and 2nd year as the people who I'll be going back with (they changed it a lot the year I started  )

Thomas Anderson 09-21-2006 05:34 PM

Got to start deciding on what my final project will be now. It runs all year and is worth the equivelant credits of 3 modules. There were 2 core modules (compulsory) which are User Interface Design and Multimedia Development Workshop, and to make up to 120 credits I had to pick 5 more and I chose Virtual Reality, Advanced Computer Graphics, Multimedia Databases, Contemporary Issues In IT and Computing In Education. The others which I didn't choose were Computer Security, Expert Systems, Multimedia Networking, Wireless Networks, Mobile Computing, Forensic Computing andDistributed Systems. I could have picked 2 more from those, but I'd have to pay for them and it's more work, not to mention that I struggled picking 5, let alone 2 more.

I'm looking forward to this year, now that I'm getting over the fact of not having a placement, which I really wanted, and not getting to graduate with all my friends, but it does look good, albeit difficult, especially the project. I'm still working on ideas for it, I'm not sure to go with something about multimedia in home entertainment, or be more specific and look at animation. It isn't a case of picking something and making it, like making an animation or writing a piece of software, but the report; they don't actually give any marks for the implementation of it, it's all about how you write it up, why you are doing it and that you know why you are doing it.

Lovely day today, went to the park (posted my photos in the approproate thread) and had the house to myself since I got up around 10am and for a while longer yet too :) I love the peace and quiet.

Thomas Anderson 10-12-2006 02:21 PM

Bored. Got to finish up my project specification, pad it out more, got to be finalised by tomorrow.

UKjovi 10-12-2006 02:54 PM

you'd best get on and do it then :)

Thomas Anderson 10-12-2006 02:57 PM

I'm doing it, I'm doing it now! I mean what is the point of me coming here and you telling me to do what I'm already doing, what is the bloody point! :p

(I'm presuming you'll get the reference :p)

UKjovi 10-12-2006 02:58 PM

Yes i do , now stop wasting time and get to it RIGHT NOW!!!!!! :p

Thomas Anderson 10-12-2006 03:06 PM

I am :p I have all day lol

Thomas Anderson 10-12-2006 09:04 PM

Ordered a new tripod earlier, couldn't believe the price

http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...duct_uid=65561

The one I have now folds up very small but because of that it means me having to bend to use it, even when fully extended, this will be much better, won't have to bend as much since it's 4'5", my current one is maybe only about 3'.

So, expect many more pictures :p

UKjovi 10-13-2006 10:26 AM

NOOooooooooo not more pictures :p

Thomas Anderson 10-13-2006 01:33 PM

Well I handed my project specificaion in :) Am at uni at the moment, had a very dull 2 hour lecture 9-11 and got another at 12-1 which hopefully won't be as bad as there is a lab session afterwards messing with 3D graphics stuff :p

The new tripod should arrive Monday or Tuesdaynext week, so someday afterwards I might come in to Liverpool a daythat I don't have anything on and go to both Cathedrals and get some good pictures inside for once :) Hoping my damn student loan gets paid soon too, am nearing my overdraft limit lol

UKjovi 10-13-2006 03:49 PM

See you got it done :)
Why not take some pictures of the caven or something like that? Isnt there a statue of the Beatles or something? I heard there was also a statue of Kev is that right?

Thomas Anderson 10-13-2006 04:00 PM

It wouldn't suprise me if there was one of Kev :p I took some pictures when we went t'other week, I mustn't have posted them at the time:

UKjovi 10-13-2006 05:04 PM

Now they are good photos , i didnt know about the wall of fame . Very interesting

Thomas Anderson 10-13-2006 06:04 PM

There are some proper funny names on there. One day I'll have to nip down there again and take dozens of photos of it to merge into a single shot. One I remember was 'The Bilbo Baggins Band' and another was along the lines of 'The Angry Vicars' lmao

Its a wax-work, but theyre still working on it. Should be revealed at the end of January :D They will place it next to the John Lennon statue. Ive been told that my wax-work has a beer in one hand, as thats the only time people see me.

UKjovi 10-13-2006 07:38 PM

Haha i can just imagine that Kev and yeah thats true your only seen with a beer in your hand :)
