Has Jon failed as an actor?

I haven't seen a film of his that I would like to see again. He isn't even a B-list actor. He is crap. Even the ones where he plays a minor support role are crap. He can't even choose a good film. Crap.

I liked his character in The Leading Man, but the film itself wasn't very good in my opinion.
As an action film I thought U-571 was pretty good, but his role could have been played by just about anyone, which is why maybe he got that part in the first place.
The other films I've seen of him aren't that good, in fact most of them are like you would say crap.
But I think if he didn't have a music carrer, he would have made it already.
I doubt that any actor could make it by doing 2 films every 3 or 4 years no matter how good they are.And Jon isn't the best actor around.
So I would say yes, as of now he has failed but there's still hope for him, hes not aan excelent actor but he is consistently better than some A listers out there.

I don't really like his acting, but I liked Pay It Forward very much. But again like Javier said, that's a part that could have been played by anyone...

His acting doesn't get better when there are polls like this every few weeks.

Could you please decide whether your silly topic is about the quality of his acting, the quality of his films or his ability to chose a proper film. Bullshit.

Well, my point was actually that he himself brought up these three different things and ridiculously concluded that Jon is a crap actor while in fact only one out of the three has something to do with it - his acting.

I think he could only 'fail' as an actor if he wanted to be one in the first place. Not sure how much he actually wanted to be one...

His acting sux - major.

The films he chooses are probably the best he can get his hands on --- who on earth would waste a good script on him? So his selection is most likely rather limited.

As for me - I could watch him read the paper or something - don't really care - he still looks good to me....

'Little City' I think is entertaining

I would say he failed as an actor like most famous people in the musicbusinnes did. I think when people see him in a movie they see him as JBJ the singer of bon jovi just like mick jagger the singer of the stones. It's hard (at least for me) to see them as some other character at least more dificult than any other movie star. Next too that he isnt the greatest actor. And those two things togheter i wont see him appearing in a big movie.

If he'd be a good actor you wouldn't notice this because of the acting. When you've seen 3 Die Hard movies and then the 6th sense from Bruce Willis you don't see John McClane in the 6th sense either.
