box set = mercury..

why why why?

Well I'd guess it's because the material that is included on the boxset was recorded when they were on the Mercury label

..or maybe universal were secretly terrified by the TLFR sales figures and wanted to sit this one out..

Mercury was much better anyway. As far as im concerned Mercury didnt stop releases that the band themselves wanted. universal influenced a lot of the decisions made in tha last few years. They suck bigtime imo. I am glad they're back on Mercury, at least for the time being...

They're not "back" on Mercury, there isn't a Mercury Records anymore. It's all Island Def Jam Music Group.

oh I know they're all the part of Island, but why vary it? Why not just "Island"

It's like when one large company owns several different shops, like I think Morrisons and Safeway are under the same owners now or something, but still have their own names, not both changed to the same.

Not for long though :)

So why is it released under the name of mercury when that company doesn't exist? Mercury, at the time when it did exist was a polygram company, not universal.
