record label type stuff

TLFR = universal
box set = mercury..

why why why?

Thomas Anderson 11-03-2004 12:34 AM

Well I'd guess it's because the material that is included on the boxset was recorded when they were on the Mercury label

Living_on_my_Hair 11-03-2004 01:13 PM

..or maybe universal were secretly terrified by the TLFR sales figures and wanted to sit this one out..

or what Mr anderson said there

Mercury was much better anyway. As far as im concerned Mercury didnt stop releases that the band themselves wanted. universal influenced a lot of the decisions made in tha last few years. They suck bigtime imo. I am glad they're back on Mercury, at least for the time being...

They're not "back" on Mercury, there isn't a Mercury Records anymore. It's all Island Def Jam Music Group.

Ah ok, cheers Ice. I was just going by what Goosey said. hehe, I need to wake up properly :P

Mongoose 11-03-2004 04:11 PM

oh I know they're all the part of Island, but why vary it? Why not just "Island"

Thomas Anderson 11-03-2004 07:52 PM

It's like when one large company owns several different shops, like I think Morrisons and Safeway are under the same owners now or something, but still have their own names, not both changed to the same.

So why is it released under the name of mercury when that company doesn't exist? Mercury, at the time when it did exist was a polygram company, not universal.
