Dieting
Ok id like to share a personal success story which iv acheived this year.
Basically at the beginning of this year I was very unhappy with my appearance. In the past few years (mainly since getting a car and an office job!) id put on alot of weight and it was really getting to me. My confidence was on the floor and It started to get where I was avoiding nights out as I hated all my going out clothes. In April I joined a slimming club as all the diets I were trying (ie atkins, low fat, slim fast etc) wenrt working. As soon as I found out how much I weighed it gave me the push I needed to finally do something about it. 7 Months later im almost 5 stones (70lbs) lighter. Heres a pic of me taken ion Christmas day last year  http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...e004/carli.jpg and a pic taken of me in October: http://drycounty.com/jovitalk/viewto...er=asc&start=0 (its the big pic at the bottom of the page) Im still not 100% happy with how I look and still have a few more pounds to go. Id just like to say, anyone who has battled with their weight will no know how hard it is and the only way I have been able to do it is completely change my lifestyle by following a healthy eating plan, instead of following trendy diets which only ever work until you go back to eating how you used to. Also, I think its harder than giving up smoking or drinking as you still have to eat and the temptation is there everyday. Also I seem to be surrounded by people who can eat for England and not put on a pound  Does anyone else have any good/bad experiences of diets they have followed??? |
Way to go Carli!!! Proud of you!! :D
I've been dieting forever, but now I've decided to just eat healthy and go to the gym a bit more. I think that is it really. Although I'm very tempted to doing the Cabbage soup diet again.. I managed to lose 7 kilos in a week last time!!!! It's just that I have to eat meat with that one that puts me off!! Anyway.. good going! :D |
bah i had such a long reply typed upt here and it's disappeared n i cant be bothered doing it all again.
anyways i managed to lose a coupla stone within a few months basically goign to the gym religiously and cutting some crap out of my diet. here's the overview: drink diet juice as much as you can. no calories in it drink as much water as possible (even better than diet juice) dont eat anythign after 8 pm or just before you go to bed diets are mostly pointless. you lose weight by burned more calories than you take in. diets lower your calorie intake so you lose weight. what happens as soon as yopu start eating carbs or stop living off of carrots? yup more calories than your burning so weight goes back on again. the only way to get it off and keep it off is to change your diet reasonably and exercise. cut out the fast food as much as possible. i cant even remember the last time ive been in a mcdonalds and lets face it. im not exactly missing much lager and beer is the devil. sad but true. vodka and diet coke is about the lowest calorie drink you can have but i dont always feel like vodka and have a wierd stigma about drinking it in the house so i'm getting into white wine. if you could buy it in nightclubs im pretty confident i could drink it exclusivly. not as many calories and it's pretty impossible to put weight on with it. i know a girl that works in an office, goes out at least 3 times a week, usually more and drinks not far shy of 10 bottles of wine a week and she looks anorexic. you look sophisticated as well unless you're A: drinking out of the bottle or B: drinking lambrini. both of which ive done  if you go to the gym, work towards calories burnt, not times because there's less a chance of you gettin bored and thinking ive been on this for x amount of time im bored. this also helps when you're eating cos you think this mars bar is x calories which is y minutes on the cross trainer, i think ill give it a miss i used to do 2 100 calorie sessions on 5 machines. thats 1000 calories in about an hour roughly and you're on the machines from 4-12 minutes instead of some people doing 10-20 and hating it do weights too. I like doing it just to keep the muscle there and so i can handle muself if needed but muscle burns up calories. the more muscle equals the more calories burned. and it's fun to act all macho and see if you can lift what the person before you did lol instead of havign a kebab or pizza when you pile out of the pub or dancing. jump in a taxi, go home and go to bed. if the night has been a succes then you'll be drunk and fall asleep straight away. no food goes in, no weight goes on. if you get tempted to have something you know you shouldnt or jump off a machien early, just think how that will make you happier as opposed to how happier you are when someone comments on your weight loss or how good you're looking. |
