Underrated Guitarist List
I was looking through magazines when trying to find Billboard and found a blurb on Richie. I believe the magazine was simply called "Guitarist." Anyway, it had a list of the 101 most under-rated guitarists and Richie was in the list. It mentioned that, along with Jon, he'd cowritten at least three of the 80's best anthems and reccommended SITT.

I suppose we can't know how famous she is here now without actually asking everyone in the country, lol, but they've been married a while now and where married at a time when perhaps she was more famous here.

Yeah I do think Richie is some what under rated as a guitarist. A few other names that might have been on the list could be Hank Marvin, Jeff Beck, Bryan May, Chet Atkins, John Mayall, Ry Cooder, Muddy Waters, Robert Johnson, John Lee Hooker and John Squire. I know some of these are quite well known, but maybe not for how good they are on guitar. Mayall, Cooder, Waters, Johnson and Hooker are/were all Blues artists. I watched a video recently where it showed them playing just with one battered old acoustic, and some of the sounds they made were amazing. It seemed like they were playing rhythm and also adding lead over the top at the same time, while singing and sometimes playing harmonica. I believe the guitarists I've mentioned above to be among the greats, and nearly all underated. :)

Yes Richie is underrated. But I have heard some people over here talking about him as the most complete guitarrist, mentioned that he can play almost every style very good and also his creativity is in top of the scale, have read a interview with Richie were he mentioned that he never really play the same solo live, he always want's to add a few notes...
But Richie is also on of the few guitarrists that has his own signature guitar, and there is at least tree different Sambora signatur guitars, not many guitarrist has that. |
