Brits: ID cards
what do you think about this one?
apart from the uber fascism of it, is it too different to what we experience today? so far this morning i've used my bank card to buy some stuff, my student ID to get into the library, logged onto this PC and no doubt will log onto the one at home tonight etc.... it may all not be connected but looking at the span of a coupla hours, the bank and university know my movements, what kinda subway sandwich i like, what books I'm looking up in the library, what bands I like and the list goes on. All it's going to do is makeit more efficient for the respective folk to get the info they're after and if you don't think the police or government can find this out already then you're kinda naive. so i'm thinking maybe it;s not such a bad idea in that it won't be a huge divergence from what we're used to albeit it covertly. what say you? |
If it keeps dirty pikeys / terrorists out then Im quite happy
|
Yeah, I’m one of the few that's for them… in fact I’d go much further and support stuff like universal tagging that would probably have most people raging about civil liberties etc. I’m kinda of the school of thought that if you have nothing to hide then you’ve got nothing to fear. There are too many people being killed and too many people screwing the systems with regards to benifits and immigration and getting away with it because of people screaming about individuals rights. Tag the world!! let’s put an end to unsolved murders, kidnappings assault and housebreakings etc.

he he he
The only thing I dont like about it is having to forcibly pay for it yourself :O |
The only people to complain would be people with something to hide.
I don't care if the goverment knows what I'm doing and buying etc, like Jim said they do it anyway this would just me an easier way of doing it, and would perhaps erradicate the need for passports and having to have loads of different types of ID card on you constantly. The ultimate would just be to microchip everyone so their movements can be tracked too, it could help solve a lot of crime, just check where someone was at a certain time and track them. |
I say fine, get your ID cards. But please, don't come looking to my generation or the next for help when the Third Reich starts rising, ok?

I've always thought it was amazing that a modern nation doesn't make their citizens have their own ID cards. Amazing, as I say.
So, as far as I'm concerned - not much I should say - I think it's quite good news 8) |
I'm totally for them. We have nothing to lose and everything to gain with the added security they would bring.
Some might shout "My rights!" etc. but to be honest people who think the government gives two-shits about what you, Joe Public, had for lunch or when you last picked your nose, are verging on paranoia! Like Goose said though, it sucks that we have to pay for it but if it saves us in taxes in the long run for all of the illegal immigrant scum and dishonesty of non-law-abiding citizens who fleece the system (which ultimately comes out of our pockets) I say - GREAT NEWS!! 8) |
