For the younger fans..

Hey, I wos just wondering for those of you who are like in your teens and still at school/college or wotever..Do you feel like youre the only person your age who like BJ?? I do have afew friends that like them but it seems in general people my age have either not heard them or hate them. I often get "You like that old band from the 80's dont you." Its weird cos i thought they would know from their parents or siblings? But i guess thats the privelage i get from having alot of older people in my family.. Good music taste :D Wot about you lot?

I have always proudly said that Bon Jovi are the root of my love to music... Some do smile, some do agree, but it doesn't really matter what others think. I'm certain, that everyone can scream his throat out with a Bon Jovi song, denying it or not

There are a lot people around who respect Bon Jovi for what they were, not what they are. That's the main problem nowadays...

Am I the only one in my small town who loves Bon Jovi? Not really... most of the had-been-fans still know every word by heart, but they moved on to acts like Dream Theater or Iron Maiden (who I adore too), rediscovered Metallica and so on...

Staying on the top for over 20 years now, gains respect, no matter what kind of music you make. Longlivety of the band makes me proud of being a fan and with a big, fat T-shirt I'm showing it quite often :D

Well first can I just say that posting in red makes it hard to read.

I'm at Uni now on my 2nd first year (course change) and it seems most of my friends like heavy rock stuff, and one of them knows I like Bon Jovi but didn't say anything negative.

I think by the age of 18/19 people stop insulting others for such personal choices as music taste etc, as by the time they've gotten older they are more intelligent and peer pressure is reduced, so there is no longer the feeling that you have to fit into a specific place.

Most people respect that I like this band the way I do.
I also like other bands, mostly punk influenced band now, but there's always been something with BJ's music that was diferent.
I always felt more in touch with it.and they know and respect that.
The only ones that you hear say a negative and stupid coment now and again are those little trendy goth wannabes that listen to slipnkot all day long so it doesn't bother me.

Yeah, it seems like only me and a friend of mine are the only Bon Jovi lovers we know. I'm trying to get another one of my friends in on it, too. My friend and I are also a rare breed who love the current Bon Jovi as well as the older stuff. Though I prefer the 80s sound, current Bon Jovi is the one I fell in love with in the first place.

I remember this one time that someone asked me about what bands I liked and I told him I liked Bon Jovi. He was quite surprised and liked the fact that I appreciated the "classics".

I'd bet many teenagers deprive themselves of music they like because their friends take the piss out of them, so they end up listening to stuff they don't like instead.

I'm 17 and I get a lot of sh*t for liking the type of music that I do. Whenever I say that I like BJ or Shakira I get one of the following responses:
1)You like Shakira??? Oh My God you are SUCH a lesbo!
2)You like Bon Jovi? Oh My God that's SO sad! It's not the Eighties anymore, nobody likes Grandad music!
3)Why the Hell do you like them? Bon Jovi are so over, it's not even funny!
4)You like that Colombian sl*t? Go to South America and some weed with the rest of the Latino freaks!
But you know what? I don't care. Seriously. Cos at least I don't just listen to whatever is "in" right now. Life's to short to worry what other people think. I also believe that if people have time to make fun of other people, then they've got way too much time 8)

Haha I know what you mean..
If I say I'm going to a bon jovi concert, they are like bon jovi, don't say you liek them! Please don't say it, and when I say yes I like them, they are like ooh no! What do you like about those dumpheads... so mean! :P hahaha and than I say I like what I like, just listen and go to a concert than you will like them too ;)

The secret for me then was not just liking them, but portraying it in hyperbolic surreal proportions. While everyone else monotonally says I like this band or that one, the smile always lights up on my face when I can say Bon Jovi. I can always start singing and performing like a nut. People like it when you are nuts about something (or nuts in general ;)) even if they don't get it. When people ask why, I know enough of the state of music (where it has been and where it is) and the many states that Bon Jovi has taken that I can discuss it with people and always end on a high and screwy note. They, most often, can't do that with there music. That is another thing they become interested in.

Sometimes, people just don't want to listen to anything beyond their social status and why are you talking to those people anyway??? But if you're charismatic and funny about it, you will at least leave them with a good impression of ya and therefore, a more accepting tone to Bon Jovi as well.

It's always fun now. It helped me get hired at a few jobs too because it was a 'unique quality' that I expressed in a 'warm-hearted manner.'

Stick with it!
