3 days till I see Keith Urban. How jealous is Becky on a scale of 1-10? :D

Becky 05-10-2005 04:10 PM

9.9

He played You (or Somebody Like You) at a gig in Cologne Germany... of course I've got it downloaded on my computer so I can listen to it... but it's likely that he'll play it at those UK dates too. There's a KILLER guitar solo in that one. This is not to be confused with Somebody Like You. YOSLY is a song written by Gordie Samson that he loved and recorded despite the similarity in the title to the song he wrote and had a huge hit with.

But you probably won't hear Homespun Love which is a shame--very country, but very cool.

However, if he plays Nobody Drinks Alone I will be hitting the jealousy scale at a 16.8 on a scale of 1-10.

I just counted up the days and I see Keith again in 29 and 30 days. :D

Have fun!!

Becky

I saw this video on Yahoo :D I loved it !! And this song is just great !!

Kev 05-11-2005 12:48 AM

....sorry becky, so which song should I look out for again? All these song titles are driving me crazy. I think I will be lucky if I know one song when I see him :?

Becky 05-11-2005 02:11 AM

Do you want me to send you some files? If so, give me a yahoo address or some other account that will hold big ones.

This is the track list of the new UK release called Days Go By. It's basically a "best of Golden Road and Be Here" on one CD. I'd expect the set list to be much like this.

Days Go By
Somebody Like You
Raining on Sunday
You're My Better Half
You'll Think of Me
You Won
Making Memories of Us
You (or Somebody Like You)
Nobody Drinks Alone
She's Gotta Be
Tonight I Wanna Cry
You're Not Alone Tonight
Better Life
Live to Love Another Day
These Are the Days

Well I have the album Be Here. I couldnt get into it though Becky

Becky 05-11-2005 03:07 PM

Try listening to it and skipping The Hard Way, Making Memories of Us, She's Gotta Be, and Country Comfort. The Hard Way and Making Memories are just too slow. She's Gotta Be is a different song live, so I can't even listen to it on CD much. And Country Comfort--not even sure why that's on there. He's got demos of songs HE'S written that are a thousand times better.

I don't know if Keith takes suggestions from fans seriously or what, but he used to play THW and MMOU back to back in concert and I really thought it was buzzkill to go from the energetic opening to that. While talking to Jerry (the bassist), I shared what I loved about the show and then said, "But I want to be a little critical," and told him I thought that those two songs paired during that acoustic-based portion of the show was "buzzkill" when "You'll Think of Me" (another slow song) is just around the corner. Jerry said he thought I made a really good point and he agreed with me and he was going to tell Keith what I said.

They haven't played The Hard Way since. Now I don't know if that's coincidence or if Keith listens to his fans, but the timing is one of thoe things that makes you go, "Hmmmmm." If it's a matter of listening to constructive criticism from fans, I wish Bon Jovi would take a lesson from Keith. Taking out that song removed this lull in the set and the shows I've seen since have been stronger for it.

Becky

Thomas Anderson 05-11-2005 03:08 PM

So you're suggesting to skip what I guess is half the album?

Becky 05-11-2005 03:18 PM

No, there are 14 songs. I suggest skipping two ballads, one mid-tempo cover, and a rock song that's a good song, just much better live. The only reason I skip She's Gotta Be is that listening to it makes me miss all the extra guitar parts in the live version, so I'd rather listen to it on a bootleg CD.

Thanks Kev :D

Becky 05-12-2005 04:18 AM

Okay, this bites. Someone just reported from the first show and said Keith only got to play 5 songs. He deserves more time than that!

Russ... you are one lucky fellow. I got home tonight at 8:27. I just enough time to get the DVD recorder set up and ready to record before the new episode of Stacked came on. :)

BEcky

UKjovi 05-12-2005 09:15 AM

:D Thank you Becky :D

I didn't know the second season was out. I don't have the first one yet but hopefully they will keep releasing them.

UKjovi 05-16-2005 01:58 PM

niel you are a fan of home improvement? cool i loved it when it first came out. used to love the cars he did up

Thomas Anderson 05-16-2005 02:40 PM

I watch it on Disney Channel, they show it around 10 every night, I've been watching it for years.

Another one I like is Boy Meets World, I'm hoping they release the recent seasons on DVD, the last 2 or 3 seasons were hillarious.

UKjovi 05-16-2005 03:29 PM

i didnt know that i'll have to remember that. do you know what series they are showing at the moment?

Becky 05-16-2005 04:09 PM

Russ--you had a chance to watch Stacked yet? What did you think?

Becky

UKjovi 05-16-2005 04:20 PM

not yet and you know why   but i will as soon as i can :D

They just show them at random I think, no specific ones. They are also on abc1 if you get that (you can get it through freeview but not sky)

...meaning I don't know when the old episodes, which feature Pammy, will be shown :P

UKjovi 05-16-2005 05:28 PM

i'll have alook anyway as i like the show :D

UKjovi 05-17-2005 09:48 AM

jess 05-17-2005 06:51 PM

Days go by ? i saw the video once but i never heard it "live" :(

UKjovi 05-17-2005 07:27 PM

thats the one jess , my memory

Becky 05-18-2005 01:19 AM

I hope someone recorded that for me! He is brilliant--heard the interviewer was embarrassing him because she only wanted to talk about his looks. It seems Keith is doing well for himself in the UK. He's being well received. :)

He'll be performing via satellite tonight on the Academy of Country Music awards and he's up for four. I've got my fingers crossed!

Becky

UKjovi 05-18-2005 10:18 AM

Becky , if i were at home i would have taped it for you but i was at work . sorry but i can tell you that fiona the presenter was going on about his looks .She was realy taken with him and said that she thought he will do very well in UK . This was the first time i saw him sing live and i was realy impressed with him .He sort of reminded me of another singer Bryan adams maybe? not sure . However it does look as though he will do well here fingers crossed

UKjovi 05-18-2005 12:17 PM

becky , i had an idea today so i have emailed gmtv to see if we can watch it again or maybe down load it . if i get a responce i'l let you know.

Becky 05-18-2005 03:16 PM

Thanks, Russ!

Keith was a big winner last night! He got Album of the Year for Be Here and Male Vocalist of the Year!

Becky

UKjovi 05-18-2005 06:27 PM

jess 05-19-2005 10:03 AM

UKjovi 05-19-2005 10:30 AM

GMTV are ignoring me

Becky 05-19-2005 04:48 PM

Oh well... I think some of the KU fans at Backstage may have recorded it.

He's playing in Europe in October. I may have to book a trip over! Are you other "obsessives" going to go to the show with me? ;)

You can BOTH go! I'll give Kev the beer that Russ buys me since I don't like the stuff. Besides, do you guys really want to see me get hammered (it wouldn't take much since I don't drink often) and take me to a Keith show? I might get a little uninhibited.
