Look Neil : from the show ! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0903/jessh/robbie.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/09...sh/Robbie1.jpg I think i'll use the last one as a sig :) or the first ? what do you think ? |
I think the 2nd one looks better.
What do you think of the new songs Jess? I can't stop listening, it isn't often I listen to new albums as much as I have this. There are perhaps 2 or 3 songs that I sometimes skip (Random Acts of Kindness, King of Bloke and Bird and sometimes Spread Your Wings) otherwise I really like the rest of the songs, especially Tripping, Sin Sin Sin, The Trouble With Me and A Place to Crash. I'd like to go see him on tour, but I don't know anyone else who'd want to go lol |
...and I am making a 2 DVD set with that show on, plus The Road to Berlin documentary and the Berlin show itself, plus a making of for the album.
|
I don't have the album yet. I downloaded a few songs and i don't even know which ones they are lol. Nearly my bday ;) i hope i'll have the cd !! (mum !!!)
But i love completely all the ones i heard Neil. I listen them more than the new Bon Jovi or Sheryl albums ! I always loved Robbie but recently there's a little something which made me realise how great he is !!! oh ....... and look at his eyes :D lol :p Ok for the second one then ! thanks for your advice. |
I don't tend to listen to anything so much when I first get it as I have with this. I did play Have A Nice Day a lot, but only Wildflower a few times (Sheryl Crows album).
I think that Robbie is a talented songwriter, he has a good voice and he is a very good showman. I hope he releases more Swing music, I really love that album, I keep meaning to get the Albert Hall DVD but keep forgetting. Each of his albums has a totally different, fresh feel to it. I think Life Thru A Lens was a little rough, but for a solo debut it isn't bad, there are a few really good songs on it. I've Been Expecting You is probably my favourite, the songs are much deeper and darker. I felt that he went a little too pop with Sing When You're Winning, and then I felt that Escapology was a mix of the other 3, but some of the songs had a more rock feel to them. Intensive Care is completely different though. Musically it was bound to be different because he is now working with Stephen Duffy instead of Guy Chambers, and he is learning to write and play music instead of just relying on his co-writers for that. Lyrically I think it is perhaps closer to I've Been Expecting You, but since he seems much happier these days the lyrics are less hateful and sad. |
Ok, i think i have to buy it tomorrow :D
I looked at the lyrics to find how the ones i love are called ... and the ones i particulary love (i don't have the whole album) are Sin Sin Sin, Make me pure, Your Gay Friend (heard only a few seconds and liked it, Spread your Wings sounds good and original too, and liked Ramdom Acts of Kindness from what i heard - same thing for Advertising Space, sounds really good ! but all these i heard just a bit), loved A place to Crash on the show ! And Tripping of course. Yes he is a great showman, there is only one like him. It seems like he can't be serious more than 20 seconds but in fact he works hard apparently. Don't know exactly which songs he wrote or co wrote i have to look more carefuly (when i'll have the album at home it would be easier) or which instrument he can play. I always loved him but wasn't too curious about him, i was just interested by the music and the showman now i want to know more. I'm re discovering him in fact. Maybe because his work is more "quality" now don't know. But I loved the other albums too. Classics like Angels or Feel, No Regrets, Millennium, Lazy Days, Supreme etc etc ... Oh and of course i love his voice and in this album i think he did a great job !!! In Make Me Pure there is this little something i don't know, i loove it :) His voice is ... pure :) I taped a few years ago a concert i think it was the Royal Albert Hall ...??? it was great and at the end he sings a Take That song but Mmmmm... a different version. And i remember this song, i loved it because it reminds me when i was waiting for James, it's called Back for Good ! I'd love to see him on tour Neil !!! :) |
The Albert Hall show was a single live show for the Swing When You're Winning album so that was all the old Sinatra tracks and such.
The Take That song he does is Back For Good but he sings the chorus in a silly, agressive way, quite funny. At the Knebworth show he even got Mark Owen (former Take That member) onstage to sing that with him. I don't think he's bitter about it anymore, though I still don't think that him and Gary Barlow being in the same room would be a good idea lol He has a new website up, there is a members area but it is much more expensive to join than it is worth, at least I think so. There is a nice shop on it though and it has lots of downloads, I got a demo track One Fine Day and a version of Angels, sort of acoustic, it is the original studio version but with no drums or guitar and more chorus backing vocals, sounds very good. I recommend that if you are interested in him you should read Somebody Someday, a book about his life around the time of the first few tours and how he was in rehab and such, and there is a DVD to go with it, Nobody Someday. |
Neil, is that Stephen "tin tin" Duffy? the one from the eighties? Clare likes him too and i have put my name down on ticket master to hopefuly get tickets to his next tour.
|
Yes that's the show ! Oh yes this version of Back For Good made me laugh a lot !! it was so unpredictable lol !
That's what i love in him. I saw about the new website that's expensive ! but yes apparently the shop is cool. Oh and i guess you saw this video about what the fans asked ? (seeing him naked ?) oh i laughed a lot ! look at his face ! he is a great actor. I didn't know bout this book ! thanks. I must find it in french oh oh not easy :p Will buy the album today :) |
Jess hes got a new web site? show me :)
|
www.robbiewilliams.com would be the one Russ lol
|
Couln't find it
So i ... mmmm .... found it somewhere else  but i want to buy it and have the real one :) But now i can hear each song completely and i love them. Spread your wings is a good one, i love it. Advertising Space is beautiful. I can't stop listening to Make Me Pure ! I so love this song ! and Sin Sin Sin. Oh and Your Gay Friend is a great song too :) Really, a great album for sure ! |
