Question about Alec

ok, im not really wanting a debate over why he was sacked or anything about Hugh etc etc, i just want to know has anyone heard these 'mistakes' that he supposeadly kept making live and hence is the supposed reason he got fired? i have a good number of bootlegs from the KTF tour and hes sounding completely fine to me, and any mistakes are small and unnoticalble to the fan at a live gig. heck, iv heard richie making mistakes and Jon forgetting lines etc
Probaly the most demanding/distinct bass lines are KTF, BTBMB and prayer and they all sound fine on my bootlegs. the reason im sayin bootlegs is to aknowledge that mistakes can be covered up in a studio/hugh can play them instead etc as i said, im not after any conspiracy theories here!

only thing i would have fired Alec was for those absurd backing vocals on Bad name he seemed to like doing.. :?

All I can think of right now is that acoustic version of Blood On Blood. Recorded in Italy I believe. Where he supposedly messes up and Jon says, "Thanks Al, it goes back to D".

I still think he was a pretty good bass player

Well I'm not a bass player - but to my ears Alec's playing was muddy (sloppy?). Hugh's playing is distinct and crisp. I do remember some of the mistakes that were posted a while back and Alec certainly had his share. The way I understood it though was that it wasn't just his bass playing that was a problem. It was showing up for shows drunk and then messing up his part that was the final straw.

I remember reading somewhere (probably german Bravo magazine) that he wasnīt that interested on tight schedules the band had and was asking the band to book another flight for him so thatīd have more spare time. And also that he didnīt want to play on studio/records anymore, just live.

Well, I am certainly not a bass player but what I've been told by friends or even by BJ Tribute band memmbers os that BJ Bass parts are really not difficult at all and even a medicore bass player could play most of them.
I don't think Jon would have taken him back in 1983 if he were just shit. I am absolutely sure.

The drugs and the alcohol were probably a huge problem but let's remember that Tico was an alcoholic for a whole bunge of years but he is still here.

Perosnally, I can't believe Alec was fired because of his bass playing. There was something else but I don't know what it is.

However, let's think of STEVEN ADLER from GnR. He was fired only after he could really not stand on his feet anymore. This would be reason enaugh but Alec seemed ok to me....well, whatever...

I hope he is happy. I liked that dude a lot!

lol... whats this...? Never heard of it.

Didn't he not like the direction the band was going in, or do u think that was just a comment made to make him look good since he got kicked out...

I also heard that he'd spoken to a magazine, talking about the band and their personal lives and such, something which they didn't do at the time, keeping it all "in the family".
