Here are some questions for you...open discussion.
I am looking for some VALID opinions here, out of sheer curiosity.
We already had the open discussion about what we all expect from Jon. Of course the topic went off into yet ANOTHER b*tch session between me and certain people and I would like to see this topic kept nice. Which should be an open invitation for it to go South real quickly....LOL In all seriousness, I wanna see this become an INTELLIGENT discussion. So here we go: What was it about this BAND that orginally drew you to the music? For me, it was the Guitar riffs, and Jon's voice. The notes that man could hit were amazing to me. The guitar, how raw it was, The lyrics were decent for back then too. For a teeneager at the time anyways. I still love the earlier 2 albums and listen to them regularly. It's fun to hear the contrast between the music then and now. What is it that Keeps you a fan now? For me.......it's the shows. I am sorry, I know some of you dislike it, and that's fine your entitled to your opinion. But for me, I enjoy going to see them live. Yea ok Jon isn't ALWAYS spot on, but heck no one is perfect. I've seen Richie make mistakes on stage too. & Jon catch him, laugh it off and walk away and continue on. I like seeing how well they still get along. After 20 years, that is a feat in itself. I like the excitment of going to a show, getting ready, making plans with my friends to tailgate, or meet up for dinner before. I have made so many friends thanks to this band, and that I cherish. There is nothing more I enjoy then Hanging out with my kids. I am looking forward to taking my 9 year old to go see them when they hit the road again. He enjoys the band as well and I can't wait to see the look on his face when the band hits the stage. He loves Richie and wants to learn to play just like him. I love the build up to a new CD, the excitment that you wait and wait to hear the music, and the wait till tour dates are released. Yea it's nerve racking, but hell, that's rock and roll! Iam just hoping for as little change up on the setlist. I have been to enough shows now that I could recite the whole gig. Please I beg of you CHANGE THE SETLIST!!!!!!!! what songs would you like to see disappear from the setlist? I for one am really tired of bad name. But I am sure that won't go as it was a major hit for them. I just roll my eyes and get over it, but truly, I fast forward that song now as it just drives me nuts. I have heard it SO many times, that I am truly sick to death of it. the Bad X/ shout combo has to go too. The banter too, can we get rid of the " say Hi MOMMA" and the "are you with me tonight" ...."how we doing so far ok?" Thing? Time for Jon too come up with somemore chit chat......these are bad and I can call it pretty much when it will appear in the set. I am sure you all agree on that as well to some degree. Discuss. |

What was it about this BAND that orginally drew you to the music?
Richie, JBJ, Tico... many reasons... basically the lyrics. What is it that Keeps you a fan now? The hope of seeing a BJ concert. And some songs that still make me happy(It's My Life, Just Older, OWN, Bounce...) what songs would you like to see disappear from the setlist? Bad medicine absolutely, i'm tired of bad name and Prayer, but i can't imagine a BJ concert without these songs... Lay your hands on me could be changed for Raise Your Hands, Wanted Dead Or Alive for Blaze Of Glory, Bed Of Roses for Always(or This AIn't A Love Song!). Well... if you asking me "what songs would you like to see from the set list" i answear: These Days, This Ain't A Love Song, SOmething For The Pain, Hey God, I Believe, Let It Rock, Wild In The Streets, Roulette(yeah, impossible!). |

Then came SWW. A disappointment. Rough edges were smoothened, getting closer to mainstream. Getting closer to pop. Ok so they experienced with new approach......wrong. NJ, more of the same. I kinda lost interest. Everything that 2 first albums promised were wiped out with these 2 releases. There was nothing that would separate them from other bands of same genre. They got as boring as the genre itself. Plus at time there were new bands coming that did offer somewhat new approch. It was obvious that BJ were not going to evolve into ROCK band of a lifetime, they sold their souls to pop & mainstream. Out of the blue came KTF. Back to rocking track. So I was hooked again. Still there were those lame ballads that just yell out "radioplay".....besides than that, it is a solid rock album. I went like "Wow these guys are a rock band after all!"...Wrong. TD. A sorry excuse for a rock album. It doesn't even sound like Jovi. They tried to be a serious band. Failed. It's nothing but mediocre pop song after another. Few rock songs among the crap didn't save it for me. It was obvious that they attempted to gather bigger audience going with more mature approch. They just didn't realize that noone expects them to be serious, they should be larger-than-life-stadium rock damnit. Ok I felt I was done with them. Cruch and bouce. POP. Nothing more to them, just pop. Catchy choruses are still there. but no rock. Ok, this time they dont even try to appear as rock band, for which I do give them credit. If they choose to be pop its all fine with me. After hearing both albums couple of times, I did find myself enjoying them, especially crush. I didnt look at it as rock album, as pop record its way over average. In fact, comparing it to several outher pop acts out there, BJ seemed to find their spot & actually be better than the competition. Nice comeback. TLFR. OH MY F**KING GOD!....honestly I can say it's one of the worst albums I have ever heard. Not a single positive thing to say about it. Compared with recent predictable tours, I'm back at the state of being done with them. Next album? Well, it's better be kick-a**-rock album (which I doubt)..... As u see, I've been "in and out of jovi" time and time again. Well, I don't like (or dislike) them because of the name, only cos of what they produce. At this time, I have a strong feeling about them being done. But on the other hand, I thought the same when TD came out...... What I'd truly enjoy....would be "real" live album. Preferably from 80s. when they still had lotsa energy on stage. Yeah there are thousands of bootlegs out there, but haven't come across properly produced live recording yet. WHAT I'D WANT TO SEE OUT OF THE SET? Most of them old standards. Especially Bad Name, Bad med & Prayer. Those are worn out, plus the band can't even do them properly any more, their performance of them old standards has been tired and lacking passion for years. Or if not gone, they should pull a suprice out of their a**es every night. C'mon, they got hundreds of songs to choose from, it can't be too hard to rehearse like 30 or 40 for a tour....changes in the set would make them fresh again. It's been like same songs in same order, replacing few in between every tour, but running order stays quite the same. It's like, if u seen them on tour 2000, dont bother going again, they've not changed a bit. Oh and most of all, I wouldn't want to hear "shout" ever again. |

Intelligent? not with all of them I-Love-jon-and-his-butt kinda people around. There are more than one valid opinions, and not all valid ones are positive. And, for sure there isn't a single person whos in position to define "valid". Sure, we can (and will) argue it out as usual. Or, more truthfully opinions will argue. But..... Everyone with some common sense should know the difference between for example butt & vocal chords, and what each contribute to act of performing music. Still there are people who prefer one over another, and I must add, musically the wrong part....yet shouting out loud how much they love the music and music only. From my point of view, the "music" that comes out of the part they prefer is something I wouldn't enjoy. Doh! This is one of the issues that cause this so called b*tching u whine about. Basically, we'd all need to separate facts from opinions more often, and if possible, back opinions/accusations up with facts as often as possible. NO offence intended. Except to our blind jonlovers. |

Hmmmm... sometimes i see my BJ bootlegs (2000 - 2003) and after (1992 - 1996) and JBJ seems a another person... performance in stage, physically and singing... nowadays i hate JBJ!!!!   |
1) the music 2) the music and the LIVE shows ... I need a touring band more than a band making records I admit it i'd rather see them touring with no new materials than having new materials and no tour anymore sorry I cannot go without the magic of the band live ... 3)I don't care that much about the setlist .. I care MORE about the venue and about the audience... though 2 rare songs at each new show would be a REALLY COOL idea for the long time fans and for the newbies as well .. yes yes yes BJ did something else beside the classics !!! |

And why are you looking for valid opinions? Is it you who decides what's a valid opinion and what isn't? Because you disagree with me, my opinion is less valid because it's based upon facts you rather not hear because they don't fit your thought of Jon? Also, since you are the one who starts this, it's also you who fills my topics with nasty things and makes the discussions less intelligent. Things like "don't listen to him blabla" aren't really replies that are about the topic itself, now are they? And because it's your opinion, we should keep it neat and respectful? How odd. Quote:
