Is the Jovi land full of chronic complainers ?

I am not using internet for a decade but just since 2000 as a lurker and avidly using it since 2001....
I noticed that the Jovi land (this is the way I call the jovi fans on the net and outside de net as well) is I think (I noticed that very honestly) that now in 2005way more than in 2001 (for me the first time I was able to see what was Bon Jovi meaning for other person than me and myt friends ) the fans are now vocal either unsatisfied frustrated offensive aggressive or at the opposite extremely happy and even overprotective towards any dissendent opinion ... you may totally disagree with me this is why I make this thread ... I want to know .. about you .. as I already know about myself and my close friends ...

I don't want this thread to turn into a war or anything but I would love us to try to put into words our feelings ... are we really chronic complainers or happy campers all the way ... I read at the bj.com q&a many times or on this boards or on otherboards about fans who have a "non amen" to say that they are whinners or chronic complainers and when a fan is happy he is called immediately blinded ..... my question is :are there more complainers than before ? why ? what is the problem if there is any ? few friends told me that there were always complainers even in the past but that wasn't as obvious because there was no internet .. I don't know how much we can verify this ... :?:

so I made a poll .. (my guilty pleasure) to see if ppl are globally satisfied or not about the whole jovi situation ...

this is not about to be a good fan versus a bad fan a complainer versus a happy camper it's just to check in a very simple way the whole jovi situation ...
I very often read that the complainers are not fans .. I disagree totally if they weren't fans they weren't vocal in the jovi lmand and couldn't care less ... if you/we hear about them it's because they ARE in the jovi land ... the non fans don't care one bit ...

ok the poll is not easy forgive me I tried ...

Aloha !

5th option for me. Tell people you like the boxset and everybody loves you. Say you hate it because it doesn't contain that many great songs (something that even most boxset lovers agree with) and they hate you because you're supposed to love it for what it is.

Bon Jovi keeps disappointing me, album after album. Crush was not a great comeback. One Wild Night was not a great live album. Bounce was not the heavy guitar influenced album they promised us and TLFR does not contain the amazingly reworked songs. Further on;

Why didn't they release a good concert from the Crush tour instead of the Zurich one where the weather sucked, and the band wasn't in top form? Why didn't they release the full concert?
Where's the DVD from Giants 2001?
Why did they just re-release the Wembley VHS show instead of releasing a good DVD of the full show?
Shouldn't there be a decent DVD from the Bounce tour?
Why are all the These Days songs abandoned from the set?
Why can't the setlists be altered that much anymore?
Why are there no more real world tours?

All these questions can not be answered by those "real" fans because it's true. Bon Jovi ows us nothing as long as they don't promise anything. So stop making promises you can't make true. Stop telling how good Bon Jovi is live, because you're most of the time aren't. Many bands from the same era Bon Jovi comes from have become better over the years, and you're starting to get worse each tour. Stop telling how different each show is because the setlist is so different, because it isn't. Stop saying that Bon Jovi is a rock band, because according to the last albums, they're not.

But when saying this, you're not a real fan. Because you're supposed to love all those things, or just forget them and focus on the positive things. Ask people about their opinion about it and they feel attacked because you "obviously" don't accept their opinion. People can not handle criticism, can't handle it when you ask them why they form such an opinion.

That's why I'm a complainer, and that's why I chose for the 5th option. I've got good reasons for it.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Quite the opposite. The Joviland is filled with people who swallow everything with face value and love everything the band does.

JT wasn't like that, one of the reasons I've been hanging here for so long.

number 3 for me, I'm mostly happy with what the band have given since since crush but there are always songs on the album that I don't like, It's natural I just don't listen to them that much.
In crush I didn't like 3 songs, in Bounce i didn't like 4, and in TLFR I didn't like 10  , but I love the boxset.
There are some songs on it that I can't stand but there's so much that I do like that it overshadows the bad stuff.
i'm just babling now so I'll shut up.

I consider myself a complainer. I usually donīt bring my opinions up as much as other people because I find it hard to express myself in english, so basically Iīm afraid I will say another thing when I mean completely the opposite. Seb brought up very good questions and I have to say I agree with most of his arguments.

Next album is going to be very important for me as a Bon Jovi fan personally. If it continues the same line as their previous efforts, Iīm afraid Iīm going to have to evaluate again why exactly do I support this band.

Iīd say Iīm a complainer as well. And for the same reasons as Late mentioned above I usually keep my mouth shut. I could say a thing or two in finnish but since this is a english board, I wonīt. There are people that are good with words so I leave that to them.

My guess is the amountīs been pretty much the same when it comes to complainers. Why? Well isnīt it obvious? (Most) People arenīt happy what the bands been releasing lately. And all the activities outside the band arenīt helping at all. I personally couldnīt give a **** about Jonīs "acting career" or that damn football thing. Make music, thatīs what youīre good at. Or at least were. And Iīm not gonna start with those voice problems/lack of changes in the setlist.

How I see things, well it's already been said. Jovi community is filled with people who consider everything the band releases as masterpiece. Everything the band does is way cool & lovable. Football thingy? Now the board is filled with football fans :? Acting career? Geez! On the other hand, Jon's obvious passion is getting more cash & he keeps on figuring out new ways, and it is amusing to see how blind followers keep on praising everything.

Now, I have a habit of thinking with my own device, and making my mind up about things on my own. I do question things, and at times I feel things should have been done differently. Criticising things around here often leads to buttstagers attacking me about my opinions. For me, JT is fun, but most likely because of other reasons than for majority. I have always thought that music comes first. Well, music is starting to suck. Albums, concerts, the whole package. Am I not allowed to critisize non-musical aspects since it is quite obvious that music suffers cos of 'em.........

So option 5 for me.

I'm not exactly "globally" satisfied and only unhappy with a "small" part. I guess it depends on how you define "small." I like most of the music--yes, even the new music. But I'm not happy with the bottle formula ballads, the set lists, the tour schedules, the fan club ticketing, Jon and Richie's overt political alliance (it bugs me that celebs play such a part in politics), the way the Oompas acts like every bit of info is the biggest secret and then the greatest gift ever bestowed upon mankind. I thought One Wild Night was the sorriest excuse for a live album ever made.

But when you compare what I don't like or find disappointing to the nearly 20 years of enjoying the music and concerts, I can't say I'm espeically worried about what they'll do next. They've made consistently good music through the years and that's what it boils down to. If I don't want to travel for a show, I can stay home. If I get bored with the setlist, I can take in one show instead of 5.

That is true in a way but in my mind those are only golden memories. And me being so young I donīt even have those. So, I really canīt be happy with what they do now for the sake of what they did in the past. Iīve many times hoped I was 10 years older so I would have seen their golden era. :|

But I'm not happy with what they do now for the sake of what they did in the past. I genuinely LIKE most of the songs on Crush and Bounce and I *am* pleased with the box set. I'm not saying any of those are perfect. I wish the box set had better production, but it's full of demos, so of course they're not better produced. I've never been to a Bon Jovi concert that I didn't enjoy--even when they did Bad Name for the 10 zillionth time. If I didn't enjoy what they were doing, I wouldn't buy it. I certainly wouldn't travel to see them.
