Jon's QUOTE from AAA
Considering i have never seen this video before.... i found this ironic...
Interviewer: Why does Bon Jovi get the open door policy in Russia? Jon: Cause we keep our political ties private... some things are nobody's opinion (or something like that)... Does anyone else see the irony in this? |
yep.
and I agree with it to some extent, but I guess he doesn't agree now. But what can you do?? things change and people change, But as I have always said, Rock and politics should not go together. |
it was said back in the 80's it's not really surprising that Bon Jovi members have changed alil bit their mind ... I am not bothered that Jon is democrat and showing it off ... why not ?he is an american citizen he is very allowed to say that he is democrat ...BUT IT WOULD NOT BE A NOT OK if they decide **ok now we will just tour into countries that are usa alliesONLY** but so far they have not done this so I am very ok that Jon has a public politic beliefs but I understand some fans would rather not see him do that ....and just stick to his rock star role ... lol I don't like the business man football team owner image SO I can understand the frustration of the fans who don't want to hear Jon's politics beliefs
I think that almost everything that was said during the 80's by Jon (especially by Jon ) is not longer true don't you think ?? (no sarcasm here just a fact) |
Having political opinions in open must suit their needs today, but not during 80s. Aint it so trendy in USA nowadays to go shout out who u support? Expressing artists opinion in public gives the artist publicity, and as I see it, for some all publicity is good publicity

I think that to be under the spotlights about politics , business , sports ( !! lol ) or artistic reasons has the same value for Jon today not in the 80s |

I still think musicians should temper how much they utilise their 'positions' to advance their opinions though. S. |
I don't think it's "ironic." I think it's a matter of growing up and having your values change. In 1988 I said I wanted to be married and have kids by the time I was 25. People change their minds. I would rather Jon kept his political views to himself because celebrities in politics annoy me, but I'm not going to judge his opinions on keeping his mouth shut TODAY by something he said nearly 20 years ago. No one can be the same today as they were 20 years ago.

well, im not exactly judging cause im Canadian and his political views dont mean anything to me...
but still i find it ironic that he made such a comment... wouldnt you agree that if he felt strongly at the time then he wouldnt change his views? |

Actually, I find the AAA comment odd. There is a long tradition in this country of rock (or folk) groups being political or at least anti-establishment. Think of Crosby Stills nash and Young, Bob Dylan, Bruce etc. Perhaps Jon just didn't want to comment seriously at the time.
